  • 2012 Bracket Busters Projections

I started lining up the home and away teams for the Bracket Busters which will be announced on January 30. The MVC should do well in terms of TV games and will probably be featured in all of the games of importance.

MVC home teams are Bradley, Creighton, Evansville, Illinois St and Missouri St.
Road teams are Drake, Indiana St, Northern Iowa, SIU, and Wichita State

Right now, I have Bradley hosting Loyola-Chicago.

Hope not. Would like to see them play someone they haven't played before. Not that I don't respect Loyola as they have always been a good in state opponent.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I hope not either. It seems the Bracket Busters are pretty lackluster after you get past the handful of televised games. Not sure why we can't get out of this and find a quality non-con opponent. Every year it's disappointing!

I think that's because we haven't been good recently... I am pretty sure CU will get a good game...

I see you pair UIC with Georgia State - and unless one of those two wins a bunch, both will have RPI's and SOS's of 300+

But Georgia State is actually the best bet to stay out of the 300-300 club as they are on a 7 game winning streak,
UIC meanwhile just got hammered by 42 points by Oregon State

To add to the disappointment of not having important games for this, it's like doubled in size as far as the field of teams. If it were 80 teams or so, I would enjoy it more.
I have enjoyed BB weekend a lot aside from last season. But it's really gotten wattered-down.
On the other hand, if we're a Top 100 RPI team, which I can see in couple years - maybe even next, the game will become meaningful - at the very least with NIT implications.
