Crean has a little advantage now having a bunch of experience...
sure he has a 5-Star center who is a freshman, but eight other players logging the most minutes are all quite experienced and have played a lot of games.
Kentucky, meanwhile, plays FOUR freshman among their top 8 players and three more who are just 2nd year players
This was a great win for IU but the Hoosiers have still played only one game outside their home state, and only has to leave their home state twice again between now and Jan. 15th!!!

it will be a two-and-a-half-week stretch from 1/15 thru 2/4 when they play six of seven on the road that may kill them and knock them out of contention for the NCAA Tourney that they are now so hopeful of...

OK. Please explain then. How exactly is the Crean versus Ford situation similar?

I guess I have to state the obvious...Crean takes over for big time cheater Sampson with sanctions and Ford didn't...that's pretty big difference to start with.

Guy takes over for a fired coach who was not winning enough games, in a program trending downward with very little talent left on the roster and a messed up scholarship situation that hurts the chances of a quick turnaround.

Sampson was winning plenty at Indiana. 22 wins in his first year, plus he was 22-4 in his 2nd year when he was removed late in the season because of sanctions.

but now we have proof he was cheating to land the players - and IU is lucky they didn't have to vacate those wins

True. But he wasn't fired for lack of wins.

I did not watch the game! Did Remy or Matt play?

nope - both did not play and since they love to show Tom Crean - both players were visible behind him on the bench many times...
Remy looked very enthusiastic and into the game and ready in case he was called..
MR looked as if he didn't expect to get in the game

Night and day situations between IU and BU.

Probation and a complete start-from-scratch job vs. fired for various reasons not related to violations.

I'm not suggesting BU wasn't in a bad spot to start this season, but it was nothing like what Indiana went through.

IU started with nothing when Crean was hired. Sampson's players went to the NBA, graduated or left when he was fired.

There were two guys who were on both teams. A freshman-to-sophomore walk-on who had played 11 total minutes Sampson's last year and junior-to-senior whose numbers I mention below.

                        07-08 IU roster (Sampson's last year): http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/m-...041508aaa.html
                        34 Ahlfeld, Adam
                        5 Crawford, Jordan
                        4 Finkelmeier, Brett (Walk-on)
                        23 Gordon, Eric
                        32 Holman, Eli
                        24 McGee, Brandon
                        22 Stemler, Lance
                        44 Taber, Kyle - Played 11.2 minutes a game and averaged 1.3 ppg/2.5 rebs
                        2 Thomas, DeAndre
                        3 White, D.J.
                        30 White, Mike

                        08-09 IU roster (Crean's first year): http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/m-...bl-mtt-09.html
                        30 Barnett, Kory
                        33 Dumes, Devan
                        4 Finkelmeier, Brett (Walk-on)
                        24 Gambles, Steven
                        40 Jobe, Tijan 7-0
                        12 Jones III, Verdell
                        32 Lewis, Broderick
                        3 Moore, Daniel
                        25 Pritchard, Tom
                        5 Rivers, Jeremiah
                        2 Roth, Matt
                        23 Schutz, Kipp
                        34 Story, Malik
                        44 Taber, Kyle played 23.8 minutes a game - 4.1 ppg/5 rpg
                        20 Williams, Nick

The IU and BU situations are not the same. IU would have been lucky to have as many guys with DI experience as BU when Crean took over.

Let's not confuse experience with talent.

Despite what that blogger says and the "facts" he thinks he presented, Crean did not run those guys off.

Got to love those types of bloggers who speculate about things that they don't really have any information about and rant about it. I guess the internet has its pluses and minuses. I'm glad we avoid that sort of thing regarding BU.
