Ok. Gotcha. I agree. Some do deny the obvious which makes no sense.
That's why they keep score in games and keep won/loss records. That way people can always go back and see the obvious facts. It's always so cut and dry then. Eliminates all what if scenarios or hypothesis.
Petey..how did the program trend since the Sweet 16? I will hang up and await your answer.
Since everything is so obvious to you..... Two thoughts for you:
Grass is not always greener on the other side.
Careful what you ask for.... you just may get it.
Minus the injuries (but those don't count).... what was wrong with this program? The only thing I saw was a key staff person and the coach not seeing eye to eye?
We beat Illinois 2 years ago. We played Duke last year!! WOW
Nothing different than what gets other coaches fired all over America. Not enough wins and a program trending in the wrong direction in the standings and with the talent on the floor.
If you think it was only about wins and losses, that is a bit naive.
Wins, losses and attendance trending down at the same time a new AD was brought in to reverse the trend. All that, plus the ever convenient "rift" with "upper management" made this an easy decision, IMO. It's the Circle of Life.

Agreed. Many factors play into the decision to fire a coach. Wins and losses are the starting point and play the biggest role. Other stuff is secondary. None of this stuff B4L mentioned is new in the world of college sports nor is it unique to Bradley.
Either way, its the past. Do the reasons really matter that much anyway?

Right on.
As much as those that didn't want Les - wanted Les gone - those that wanted WM (including the local rag's KW) - those that wanted JM to stay on....
I am just glad it is ALL over.
I'm glad JM is gone. I'm glad WM never got the job on the Hilltop. I'm glad Bradley got to the Sweet 16. I'm glad to see Bradley get a clean slate with GF.
Can we all seriously give it a rest? Yeah, the reason Jim Les was fired was not black and white. 1) He was a good recruiter but not the greatest X's and O'x coach in the world. 2) He had a lot of injuries. People can claim that injuries are a part of the game, but we had more than our fair share during his tenure. That's just hard luck. 3) He clashed with the administration.
You can say whatever you want about the situation, but a combination of those things ultimately led to his firing. That's not to say Jim is a bad guy, a bad coach, or anything else along those lines. He's not. We should all appreciate him for what he brought to the program and what he did for us while playing and coaching alike. The point is, JL's teams had declined for 4 straight years, and instead of getting a shot to right the ship, he was relieved of his duties. Life isn't always fair, but we still have to accept what happens and make the best of the situation. I know a lot of you on this board had a personal relationship with Jim Les, but coaching change is an inevitability in sports. We won't know whether it was the right or wrong decision, but the point is that we are ALL Bradley Fans. Let's support the team no matter who the coach is. We could lose every game in a season, and I'll still enjoy going out there and watching kids live out their dreams, and has nothing to do with coaches, administration, or anything along those lines.
I promise to "give it a rest", as long as facts are presented accurately. We won't allow posters to revise history.
All I have ever said is be careful what you wish for. Those who demanded that JM be replaced probably cost Bradley one or two NCAA appearances over the next 3 years and an All American player.

One thing lost in this debate was how Jim was treated after the firing. That is the main probelm I'm trying to deal with. This current adminstration showed their true colors AFTER the firing. I can't just drop it and remain a loyal BU fan right now. This will take some time to gain my trust (and money) back.

I usually don't totally disagree with you DC but come on...that is total speculation...I doubt we would have been ranked more than a 3-4 of spots higher in the MVC which doesn't mean much I know....but you are reaching waaaay out there .....who in the world is the All-American?

Reason: spelling
Read my post more carefully- I was referring to Jim Molinari's firing, and Danny Granger would have been an All American. Do you doubt that?
Joah Tucker was pretty good, too.
BTW- Granger was named as an Honorable Mention All American by the AP as a senior at New Mexico.
