MVC stats updated to include last night's games-
-
5 things kinda surprised me...
-we are not last in FT shooting..and both Creighton & Wichita are right there with us in the bottom half of the FT shooting stats well behind the leaders
-Taylor Brown is Top-5 in both scoring & rebounding and the only other player who's there in both categories is Doug McDermott.
-half of all the top 3-pt shooters are forwards
-Anthony Thompson LEADS the entire MVC in BLOCKED SHOTS at 13 - and I think he's been robbed of a few that were missed in the stats
-SIU has still played only four games...

Here is a sortable listing of the MVC stats-
Some interesting findings. Preseason POY Kyle Weems is getting his scoring average up, but still does not rank in the top 10 at 12.5 ppg.
He is shooting only 30% from the floor so far, and only 21.6% from three- we can only hope he maintains that when he plays against Bradley, but somehow I don't think it'll work that way.
Weems is second only to Mamadou Seck in fouls per game, which is also a surprise.

If anyone watched the Illinois game - they didn't play well and Sammy's stat line was not impressive - but...Illini win in part due to Sammy..
Every time he left the floor - Illinois went into a scoreless funk and then seemed to bounce back out of it a bit when he came back on the floor.
He is a great team leader - and helps his team win whatever it takes.

I don't mind that Sam made a personal dicision to leave it is his right, but selling it as an act of a team player just doesn't make sense.Attached Files

No reason to argue over this, only reason Sam left is because Les was fired. If Les was still here, Sam would still be here. Sam wasn't happy about it all and left. He knew he would be in a much better situation at Illinois and probably wanted to play there all along but just didn't get the recruit attention.
Sam is still friends with a lot of the Bradley players and the announcers said he was at a game or 2 at the Chicago tournament.
