They drew only an announced attendance of 2,759 for their home game aginst Chicago State, and just 3,012 for Western Kentucky. And I watched the WKU game and IMO that figure is inflated. The newly renovated arena, which holds 8,339 people was only about 1/4 full.

Sorry Da Coach, but your post made me laugh. So you think SIU inflated their attendance # against WKU?

Remember last year when Creighton played you guys? It was right before the Blizzard. Game time moved up, you know the details.

    Here's the boxscore: http://www.bradleybraves.com/ViewArt...CLID=205088189

    8,091!

In reality, what was there? 400? 500?

Every school does their attendance differently. I thought I read somewhere that SIU does scanned tickets for their attendance. I maybe wrong about that though.

And I am certainly not slamming Bradley for counting tickets sold for their attendance averages.

BU makes no pretense that the attendance is seats filled - it is tickets sold..nobody's lying..

and I hand counted the fans that day and there were about 1000

But when a team claims their attendance is "butts in the seat" and it doesn't pass the eyeball test, then it is dishonest

Never said anyone was lieing. And I am well aware of how Bradley and others record attendance. This has been well documented over the years.

That's cool. It went in the books as 8,091. Had that been ISU. It would have gone in the books as about 1000.

Unless you have view of the entire arena, how realistic is "your eyeball" test? ISU has been selling some upper bowl tickets for $5.

I went to the Lipscomb game and using my "eyeball" test there were just as many people in the upper bowl as there were in the lower bowl.

        Who is being dishonest?

I am not convinced of this..
I have seen RA filled with what's clearly 2000-3000 - and that even being confirmed by your own fans who say the same thing...
.. then attendance claimed was 4000-5000+
          That's the eyeball test...

Much less when the people use the "eye ball test" with at-large bids, people are biased.

And Tornado you have to admit that you are very much biased against Illinois State.

I have proof that ISU's #'s are butts in the seats. PM me your email and I will be glad to forward it on to you.

"proof" - or what amounts only to someone's claim, explanation, or spin - cannot convince me when they say they have considerably more people than there appears to be to the eye test
let me ask..has Redbird Arena ever had a sellout??
ISU sure claims they have - they list precisely 10,200 attendance on numerous occasions ..
If you claim, as they have, that they had a sellout - then you are saying every single seat in the entire arena had a butt in it?? No possible way - at least one guy was sick or stayed home -- there are always empty seats..
This is - to me - the most overpowering proof that if they sell every seat they report it as a sellout - not butts in the seat
