  • Harvard's first ever top 25 appearance

Not a shock, but still one has to do a double take to see them on both polls! Hopefully it will last for awhile. And make no mistake about it. This is a team that could pull off a VCU like run this year in the NCAA Tournament if they make it. If they don't win the Ivy League, could we say the first ever Ivy League at-large bid (unless I'm missing one or more)?

Glad to see Creighton crack the top 20 in each poll along with Illinois, but dropping UNLV out of the poll was a bit harsh. Like some pollsters still not giving respect to a solid Wichita St. team, which is probably why they fell short of the polls this week as well. Hopefully they both keep winning and make the polls soon.

OK -- but I am not convinced that they should be ranked ahead of even half the Valley -- they are 8-0 but only two of those teams are above .500
...even their most recent win over lowly Seattle is deceptive as they were outplayed by Seattle but gained the benefit of nailing 29 FT to Seattle's 9

Teams like Harvard that are well coached and have smart, fundamentally sound players generally do well early in the season as the younger and more talented teams struggle to find their chemistry. As the season goes on a team like Harvard usually becomes more irrelevant. It should be interesting to see if they continue their winning ways at the end of December when they play slightly better competition. They should do fine in their conference but are a classic example of a team that will be over rated because of a great record and a very weak schedule.

It's amazing what laxing the academic requirements for players will do for a basketball program.
