    remember we're picked 10th - so nobody's expecting much...

but still -- good teams accomplish several things we are just not getting done..

-they can shoot -- and actually note that this team IS SHOOTING 50% inside the arc, but only about 20% beyond it
...so maybe we're talking a little bit of bad shot selection here...

-they handle the ball well and limit turnovers - yet we've consistently had more turnovers than our opponents, and last night we had 22 compared to their 12..many just bad TO's & unforced ones

-they distribute the ball and find the open guy - the lack of assists on this team is astounding - only THREE assists all night last night -

-and the bread and butter of every college basketball team is to get the ball in the paint and try to either get layups or make them foul you..
and we even see that it can work since Jordan Prosser had 14/8, was 6-8 from the floor and went to the line a couple times.
BUT -- we just don't seek to get the ball there enough - how many times does our point guard just launch a shot 5 seconds into the shot clock without making a single pass?

-Last couple thoughts...is there any way for a couple players to put some Stickum on their hands - a couple guys simply drop the ball out of bounds even when unguarded more than anyone since Xanthus Houston!

And how 'bout we simply STOP forcing up threes when we know we're not making them?? Gotta feed the low post...it's not like Wyoming had a couple of Shaq's and Kareem's there!!

All this T and for some unknown reason to me, we have not faced a lot of zone defense, and I think that this team is very susceptible to a team that could throw a full court press at us.

Exactly correct, these guys could score in high school by driving and getting mostly layups, how do you not see that when you are out evaluating players, then we have 2 players that appear to be able to shoot from outside but are too slow for d-1 teams .
I feel bad for the coaches that are stuck trying to win with this mess and us fans that have went thru watching mediocre play now for quite awhile, we cleaned house with the coaching staff and it is time to do it with the players.

Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees. If not for the fallout from the coaching change we would be 6-1,imo or at worst 5-2. Everything this team lacks is in Champaogn.

We don't have any shooters coming in next year either.

And then next year we would be 12-20 again.

This change was not for one year.

I, for one, will stand by the current coaching staff and players.

We can't control or worry about players who gave up on Bradley!

That's refreshing to hear, since there are many people who feel the school should "quit" on some of the players!

This year was never about W's and L's to me. It's all about change, recruiting, building, etc.

I think we will some games, but it's not going to be easy.
Just looking for some improvement from game to game. Hard to see it after last night!

Agreed. As great as it would be to have Sammy, we would be in this boat the year after. It was time, hopefully Geno and his staff put together some great teams in the future, and Bradley gets back to the spotlight. We just need to have patience. It will not happen this year, and probably not next year.

I have been saying this as well. I am no insider, so I don't know if there is somehow another scholie opening up, we probably wouldn't know this early anyway, but we are one in the hole already with WE coming back. College basketball is dominated by the three point shot. Not too many teams win without shooting, and I don't see that problem being solved any time soon. We can't expect a couple of freshman to come in and be great shooters/players right away in the next year or two. So it seems to me it will be several years before we are good at shooting, and hence really a good team. I hope something changes.

Look at the team the year after the sweet-sixteen season, the three shot can keep you in games, build momentum, and cover up a lot of weaknesses. You cannot live by the three, but you need to be able to shoot it in this game.

I stand by the coaching staff but as far as players go we only need to keep the ones that are capable of contributing, if we don"t go out and get 2 more players to go with are 2 new recruits we most likely have the same problems next season with no real 3 point shooters, in order to have a good inside game you have to have a decent outside game, we finally have good inside players.

Let's see...we don't have a true PG, so Geno gets one of those in KB.

Then, we need a replacement for TB, so Geno gets one in TP.

And we don't have any remaining scholies...

Just how do you propose getting some shooters for next year unless we send some kids packing???

To some people, he was everything and more.

To me, he's just a good player who decided to leave BU when a coaching change was made. More power to him. I hope he has a fine season at U of I.
