Coach Geno said that NorthEastern plays a lot of ZONE.....lets hope we can correct some shooting woes @ home! The best way to get a team out of a Zone is to shot them out of it!

I'm not sure why everyone wouldn't play zone against us, especially after tonight!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
I believe that it isn't very fair to comment about a lot of this game as I listened to the WMBD broadcast. It sounds as if we faced a lot of zone in the second half. No surprise there.. I would zone us until we make outside shots! But, my one complaint that I have is that we bring in a new coach who is supposed to be experienced, and he devises an offensive scheme that provides us with three freakin assists for an entire game! Three assists... really.... smh I can accept that this is a rebuilding season and that this will be a tough year, but the staff had time to prepare for this game!
One assists against Wisconsin in a half and now three assists against Wyoming for an entire game. Inexcusable!

Funny thing about assists... it takes one guy to pass the ball, and another guy to put it in the bucket. When nobody's shooting well, it's very difficult to rack them up. Hardly consider this the coach's fault, unless he recruited all the guys who can't shoot. Especially when a team goes zone to deny easy assists inside.

I agree. I can accept losing games, but not with this type of shooting. I thought our players could shoot in high school. Now they all of the sudden forgot how to do this in college, even adjusting for tougher competition? I don't get it. Plus I would rather lose games 66-60 than 65-49 any day! The more competitive we stay, at least we win some close games even if we lose some heartbreakers along the way. That would at least show people we are closer to turning the corner.

Agreed.....until we somehow start shooting the ball better and figure out how to play against zones.....I'm not too concerned with the assist total.
The turnover total is another story!!!

And MK and DS still keep riding the bench. As if we are going some where this season and can't risk playing them....put them in a see if we can make a three! We aren't that stellar on defense anyway...why not try to make a shot? Good to see JP have a pretty good game.

Just relying on what I have seen in person or on television from five of our first seven games, but what tonight's assist stat tells me is that we are still relying on our one-on-one offensive schemes and not using more of a team concept by passing the ball around. I would be curious if someone who saw the game tonight saw something different than what I have commented.
