Sycamores let a golden opportunity slip away, much like the Redbirds.

Golden Gophers 76 Indiana State 69

Indiana State led at half and for quite a bit in 2nd half.

This is definitely a heartbreaker -- all the way thru the 2nd half -- down to the 8 minute mark - Indiana State was leading by 8-10...
it was still a 7-pt lead for the Sycamores with 6 min to go...a 5 pts with 4 to go...
They still had a good chance in the final minute but with 40 seconds to go Jake Odum went to the line for two FT's and missed them both.

Indiana State's leading scorer & leading rebounder Carl Richard was carried off the floor in 2nd half with knee injury -
but returned later - and ended with only 9 pts, 2 rebs....Odum 7 turnovers...
Jake Odum is also suffering from foot injury - actually a chronic condition called "plantar fasciitis" - or foot arch ligament strain -
a condition that is extremely difficult to get well from without taking substantial time off......
you can continue to play and Jake is doing with the condition, but often it simply drags on and won't get well - like the way tennis elbow acts...time will tell.

Yuba grad Julian Welch was player of the game for the Gophers, 17 pts, 6 rebs

Plantar Fascitis will simply kill a basketball player without taking months off. I've seen a couple NBA players have nerve decompression surgery but they say that is the very last resort as it can come back again.

Sacramento Kings star Tyreke Evans battled this the last 2 months of last season. He tried playing thru it but just couldn't last long. He took about 1.5 months off and finished the last 2 weeks of the season.

The Chargers Antonio Gates has missed most of the season with this. He came back a couple weeks ago after he said the pain is tolerable but video clearly shows he's not at his full burst but is still better than the backup TE. He at least gets to rest the foot during defensive plays but basketball players don't get that luxury.

No such thing as moral victories, especially with this team. They are an upper division team in the Valley, and they need to win games like this especially when leading most of the game. Obviously they couldn't finish the job.

Despite Bradley and especially Indiana St. blowing opportunities over strong BCS teams, I am glad to see plenty of other mid-majors winning games that most think they have no business winning. Congrats to Central Florida and Harvard for a job well done today!

Wichita beats UAB 68-46 and it's looking like UAB (1-3) is not very good...

SIU finally found someone to beat - Chicago State - 73-57...
Ex-ISU Redbird Jeremy Robinson had 15 pts/9 rebs for CSU
Seck had 16/10 for SIU, Bocot only 4 pts in 35 minutes

The fact that Creighton blew out Campbell allowed sub Ethan Wragge to get some playing time and he produced 4-6 from 3-pt!

                        Iowa State beat Providence 64-54 - Ex-Saluki Anthony Booker got 4 minutes/scoreless

Vanderbilt had a blowout vs. Monmouth 95-73 and despite that they are thin in the post as Ezeli sits out...
James Siakam still doesn't play. He was one of the top recruits out of Illinois a couple years ago, then redshirted all last year, now gets maybe only ONE minute per game if he's lucky -- has played 3 min total all season!

Last night's Dayton win over Minnesota - Minny's star Trevor Mbakwe went out with knee injury
now it's released he has torn ACL and out for the season...
Tough situation - he was doing so well and is NOT likely to get a 6th year waiver
