I happen to agree with this.

I wish we had 9 players getting 13+ minutes, a team that makes 40% of their three point shots, and makes 73% of their freethrows.

maybe - but what hurt ISU last year and will again once they start actually playing teams who put up defense...
is that ISU will be shooting poorly from outside and scoring in the 50's and losing games..
You had two of your 3 biggest players averaging 3-4 rpg but launching 4-5 3-point shots per game..result 4-14 in the MVC where the other teams see this and feed the post where they shoot a far better pct (44 vs 41%) and thus gain 25% more FT attempts

Maybe so, and I reserve the right to change my opinion if that happens and I'll be more than happy to do that!

However, after 5 games they have 7 players who have attempted a 3-point shot and 6 of those players are making at least 33% of them. They also have 6 players that are making at least 71% of their freethrows. I'd love to have that kind of production!

When? My question is how Carmichael only played 19 minutes but was apparently responsible for holding Leonard, who was on the floor for at least 19 minutes that Carmichael wasn't, to just 10 points. I just don't understand the logic behind that at all!

Watched all 4 Cancun games. Really not ready to move ISU up the ladder based on the competition in Cancun.

Richmond lost most of their Sweet 16 team, Rutgers is bad and Illinois is below the Big Ten middle of pack.

As far as Sam goes, I'm not sure I remember him making the boneheaded plays he made both nights. Last night, of course, was the bad pass that almost led to ISU winning. Tuesday night included an intentional foul leading to a 5-point possession and then fouling a shooter on an off balance 3-point shot. Maybe he can't think with Weber screeching in his ears.

Wow shaun, even on Thanksgiving your going to be that guy.

Obviously Jackie wasn't on the floor the entire time Meyers was. But when he was, he did a good job on him. We played a good deal of zone that helped as well. Is that better?

Also Tornado Ekey has NEVER been one of our better post players. He can play good post defense, but on offense he has never been on outside guy and that goes back to his days in high school. Wilkins has a nice 3 point shot. He is at his best when he goes both inside and out. Wilkins had only 6 fg attempt against the Illini. 3 were from trey. Nothing wrong with 50/50.

really like Ekey and Wilkins two really talented forwards...and add Caremichael(sp) that is a really talented front line....

I do think our starting front line matches up well with them TB, JP and SS...

Too bad for the MVC last night.

A chance for a MVC team to beat a BCS Conference Team doesn't come around often enough.

Winning these games is imperative to MVC getting more respect nationally, which helps all the MVC schools in recruiting, tournaments, media coverage, post season...

In March, MVC fans remember close losses to BCS foes in Nov/Dec, but not the rest of the nation.

Have to put aside all angst vs BU MVC rivals, and, ongoing loyalty to former Braves who chose to move on, and root like crazy for any/all MVC teams who have a chance to beat any BCS Conference opponents.

As to how ISU Red and BU will stack up against each other, speculation and early season comparisons are fun, but Feb 4th and Feb 25th games will answer that question.

This is basically my feeling. They have one post player and a couple very good guards. They don't have anything that stands out at the offensive or defensive end.

MCD I usually agree with your posts but I think you had to much Turkey today and it clogged your mind. I really like those three from ISU but to think our three match up with those three make me wonder if I'm missing something here. Right now at the present their three are much better then ours. TB is probably better then anyone of there three but JP is not close to Carmichael and I'm not even going to comment on SS vs Ekey or Wilkins. Someday he may be but right now whoa............

I've got to disagree with you here wily. I think JP is as good as, if not better than, Carmichael..... a much more multi-dimensional player with more upside. Also, I would not be surprised to see Shayok hold his own against Ekey or Wilkins by the time we play ISU. But, you are right that TB is better than all of them.
