Guess I didn't realize the objective was to win the bench points game.

Maybe we should also start AT, MK, DS, and DH?

      Interesting post.
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

Wofford tried everthing they could to give us this game but we just were too anxious to take it. It just seemed like we were too quick on offense and were too slow on defense. Wofford did execute their offense very well for the first 35 minutes. I liked the way we fought until the end, we just needed to be more patient on offense. Pretty disappointing result. Play like this against Wisconsin on Friday and losing bad will happen

Whatever that means. Anyways.....SS has looked awesome so far and obviously deserves his starting spot.

I think Geno should start Woods against Wisconsin. Yah we lose a scorer but Shayok isn't giving us much anyways. Woods smothered Giltner tonight and definitely altered a few 3 pointers or made them decide not to shoot one.

Missed another 8 Free Throws tonight and was down by 2 points with 17 seconds left, should of easily had the lead at that point. Hopefully they will get that corrected a little once they have a few practices in between games.

Wisconsin made another 13 threes tonight on 27 attempts and have been slaughtering the opponents on the boards. Bradley needs to get in there Friday night, throw some bodies around, get chippy with the ball handler and make them work for those points. None of this soft BS on D.

Lets put this one behind us and hopefully keep it within 15 against Wisconsin and the W against BYU or Nevada.

I would actually prefer Woods starting over Eastman and Shayok. He needs the best at perimeter D and need him in there to prevent the blowout on 3's from starting. It's a no win situation really but Woods is better on the Guard D.

I think we all see the potential that SS has. What do you think of having the staff design a couple of plays specifically for SS to get him into the flow of the game? I think that could do wonders for his confidence. jmho

That and a lot of practice with free throws.

Apologies to BP and the BU staff, but it has been well over 2 hours since the game ended, and the BU website still has not posted any statistics for the game. The Rivals/Yahoo stats were posted almost 2 hours ago. Why is there such a long delay in getting the stats posted, when they are available minutes after the game ends?

Sorry I can't wait up any more, so here are the stats from the Rivals site-

Very good games by DSE, TB, and WL. SS had his 3rd game out of 4 that he does not score a basket. And JP's 0-8 night really hurt. We still are going to need to get more production out of some of the freshmen and other bench players.

                    Attendance 7,114

Another Good effort by the team until the end, they did not quit in this one, however we just didn't play well, played hard, just not very well. Outscored by 18 pts from the 3 point line, that is something this team will have to find a way to overcome this year, its gonna happen quite a bit Im afraid.

Also, I really like Geno Ford, so this is not a slam or a dis or whatever towards him, but I thought there were 2 facets of tonights game where he could have tried something to help our team a little bit.

                        1. Why didn't we a try a zone at least once?....maybe eliminate their entire offense of motion/screening...I understand they can shoot, but those screens were just slicing our man defense to shreds...at least the zone would have forced them to try and change their approach.

                        2. Its the coach's job to devise a game plan to put us in the best position to win, then have the players execute that plan....that plan clearly should have been full court pressure against that team, and try and speed up their possessions...we dominated them when we employed the pressure in the 2nd half...we were way to quick and athletic, we needed to exploit that as much as possible...probably would have won had we done it earlier

just a couple of questions, what you guys think?

I think with our lack of depth it would be hard to press teams for any extended periods of time. As for playing zone, thats a good question. I think one thing to keep in mind is the youth of this team. I'm sure there are a lot of things that Coach Ford would like to do but might not think we are ready for. I expect as the year goes along we will see a lot more defensive and offensive sets but for now he probably wants to stick with what he feels the team is able to execute.

Good points, but we have gone to a zone at least once in every other game so far...I was surprised we didnt this game with how we were getting lost so easily on the screens.....and as far as depth on the pressure, we have the gaurds to do this IMO, plus when the option is a loss vs tired players....I choose tired players.

The press in the last 2 minutes was very effective. Wofford had trouble inbounding the ball several times, and turned it over several times due to the press. But I agree that we would have trouble keeping it up for long stretches. But I would have liked to see a little more of it during the game to keep Wofford from setting up all those shots they drained.
