You might be mistaken- I do not recall Beninator being a big JL supporter.
And we will lose more than just this game, because this team has some obvious flaws.
But I trust this staff will eventually get the job done with recruiting and coaching.

As for taking a step backwards because of fallout, how do you go backwards from last place? I suppose if we still had JL and SM we would be 4-0 instead of the terrible 3-1 we are right now, right?
Just as predictable as people that say this is a last place team without mentioning the fact that the best player didn't play at all. Much like people would be all over the coach for letting one player go off like #10 did tonight.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

FWIW, I have had serious questions about Geno since I saw our first game. My opinions have been among the minority on this board, but I have been consistent. I even gave the staff some praise after game 3.

Too bad that SM (a.k.a Basketball Theriot) didn't have a chance to take the last shot after the timeout and miss it.

But seriously, these are still Les players and we have to give Geno a chance to put his own team together.

For the record, I liked JL and thought that he should have been given one more year. That being said, I understood why JL was fired.

Like JL or any other Bradley coach for that matter, I very much want Geno to succeed. I know it is early, but I haven't been caught up in the hype and am concerned as to what I haven't seen so far. Hopefully for everyone involved, I am wrong!

This is directly from the fallout from the coaching change. We lack the team leadership and we sorely lack outside shooting and point guard play of Sammy. And we could really use a solid rebounding defensive juco player like Sean Harris. But instead of having the talent to contribute and contend now, we'll continue to see games like this all year where this team is just too inexperienced and not a well rounded enough team.
I am confident Geno and the rest of the staff will get the players needed to contend, but as we all knew (or most did) we will take a step back for a while until the rebuilding can take place.
Enough with the fallout crap. Didn't the predicted fallout also include multiple guys transferring out? All but Sam are still here, right? Sam will be lucky to play 20-25 minutes a game this year. With Abell it looks like a we would be relying on a freshman who just isn't ready to contribute to quote you. And if Harris is this great a player why did he go back to juco and not straight to D1 from his mission? Sounds like your knocking our freshman. Didn't think that was allowed here. I thought that was for the misanthrope board.

The team finished in last place last year. How do you take a step back from that?

As I expected, there will be some who want to believe this team didn't suffer from the changes the coaching change resulted in. We lost a certain All-Conference point guard, and you want to contend there was no fallout. And if you want to believe this group of freshmen will contribute this year as much as a talented juco would, then go for it. But that's ludicrous. I am willing to be patient and give the new staff time, but there is no chance this year will be as successful as it would have been if everyone returned.
And nowhere have I ever "knocked our freshmen", but nice try.

I guess we're gonna ride the last place thing for awhile, even though we were missing a couple of very important pieces.

You said our freshmen are not ready to contribute. Sounds like a knock to me.

Jucos are hit and miss. Even ones that come to Bradley. You have no idea how Harris would have done here. We all thought Thompson was going to be the next POB. How's that turned out?

Sam isn't, and won't be, completely healthy. Playable, but not healthy. If an All-Conference guard can average 20-25 minutes, that's a conference lacking guards.

Still haven't answered how you take a step back from last place.

The comparison isn't with last year, it's with how this team would have been this year if not for the fallout from the change. That comparison is obvious, except to you.
And I am going to have to think a while to figure out what Thompson was brought into this discussion for.
I love our freshmen, and if you read this board, you'd know that. But this team has 5 freshmen, and they combined tonight for ZERO points and ZERO rebounds tonight. Last game they combined for 2 points and 3 rebounds. So if you think they are ready to contribute, then make your case. But it's obvious they are not. No knocks, just the facts. A juco would have been starting and contributing. But instead we are rebuilding, and that's OK. I am still a fan, and I am enjoying watching this team.

Coaching change fallout - how about the Jim Les fallout?

I don't care if everybody left. Les had to go. It will take Geno a while to dig out of the hole that they are in, but other than the Sweet 16 run the Les era was a disaster that went on too long. After the endless T's, the ISU Red sweep, and numerous L's in the final seconds, how could anybody think that Les was going to stay? The 800 people that go to UC Davis games will find out soon enough...

Yes, we know. And did you know he never finished higher than 4th place?

FTR, I am a fan of Geno, and I think he'll build a winner. But there were some who said we'd be better immediately, and denied there would be any fallout. And some even still seem oblivious.

Thompson was brought in as an example of someone who was brought in to a good amount of hype by various people who hasn't exactly lived up to it.

I'm not saying the current freshmen are or are not ready to contribute. Geno thinks at least one is. Just saying there are no guarantees the incoming guys who might have been here would be contributing any more or to expectations.

I'm not the only one in this thread who asked how you take a step backwards from last place, so it's not just me.

We have who we have. Those other guys aren't here and won't be here, so to continue to pine for them through the term "fallout" is a worthless endevour.

The Sweet 16 run was one of the best sports events I'll ever experience so I don't care about the Top 4 finishes argument that ISU Red fans love to bring up. I just can't belive there are people that wanted Les to continue after last season.
