  • Predictions for tonights game? GAME 4

This idea was started by Samd2, so I'll keep the ball rollin'...

How much do we WIN by tonight?

    Who will shine tonight?

    Improvements?

    Other expectations?

    My thoughts:
Outcome? We win by 7 (FT shooting again a struggle)
    Shine? TB gets double-double
    Improve? SS, outside shooting

      Cupcake

A 4th "Cupcake" win for the Braves by 10 or 11. It's time we play a team inside the Top 300 rankings of Div 1. Tired of the Braves Nation all excited about a 3-0 start (and some fans are screaming 5-0) when this schedule is easier than ISU (Red).

Yeah, shame on Bradley fans getting excited about their season after suffering through a long one last year. Who are we to cheer on our team and be excited for the future?

I'm happy and proud that I'm an excited fan, and not a miserable one like you.

You are probably right about the easy schedule, and it may still be a long season. But I SOMEHOW get the feeling you are hoping we are bad.

I fear I have finally found our fallout.

Hey Petey -- I know those first 3 teams were not Duke but they played hard and gave us close games and that was more beneficial that either a blowout win or loss would have been...
Currently....all of our first four opponents (I know RPI is less accurate early on) are RPI between 100-200 then we go after the big game
....Wisconsin, BYU or Nevada, Michigan -
then...EIGHT of our first NINE league games are against the upper Valley teams with RPI's better than 80-90...

By contrast ISU's first three opponents include SIUE (almost 300 RPI) and Lipscomb (318 )

              Talk about a Debbie Downer....
Obviously everyone thinks we should beat these first 4 teams. And we all want and think that Bradley Basketball should be a premier program and contend for Valley championships every year. The fact that people are excited and happy with what the team is doing and where they are headed is a good thing. Just cheer for the present no matter what and keep high hopes for the future.

                  Best of both worlds

Just remember we can not have it both ways..... This board (me included) gets on ISU (Red) for their CUPCAKE schedule. We must recognize when we have one. I'm excited for the future and see where we stand over the next few months.

I did not say (or use) RPI for my "non Top 300" because the RPI has not found it's balance yet in the early season. There are some great teams not ranked high and some bad teams ranked too high. I looks to me like the RPI needs some time to adjust correctly.

Please don't look at it as "Dennie Downer" I was just stating the facts and hope BU nation is not fired up like the U of I fans were 6 weeks ago.

Cupcake?? The first four games. But then we have two top 15 teams, BYU/Neveda, and Drexel. That is anything but cupcake. I agree that we haven't played a 'good' or even 'solid' team yet, but our overall schedule will be very tough. And I'm not entirely ready to overlook Wofford. We are 3 days away from a top 10 team and I think Wofford has an excellent coach who will have his team ready to play tonight.

Sagarin has Wofford rated 155 and us rated 173.

It is one thing to schedule an easier schedule when you have a whole new coaching staff and a whole new system of play and when you start 1 freshman and 2 sophmores and a senior who didn't play last year. It is another to schedule cupcakes when you have a NCAA caliber team like ISU had a few years ago. I think going a little easy the first 4 games is smart.

The schedule gets harder real quickly after this game. Heck we play #11 in the country on Friday. I think our schedule is plenty tough for us this year. In no way can you compare this to ISU red schedules of the past.

CBSsports has Bradley losing 74-68 tonight. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/odds/picks

I think if BU hits their freethrows tonight, we will win.

Petey...the RPI's at this point of the season are somewhat irrelevant. Take a look back at the END of the season to see how the opposition faired. You will find that SEMO will win 16-17 games and North Dakota more than 20. Wait till Feb. 20 and not Nov. 20...then look at RPI, etc. and get back to us.

No one said it was a great schedule so far. But when you have a team that hardly won at all the previous year winning any games should be considered an accomplishment. BU still has two ranked non-conference games yet to go on the docket.
