  • Jeremy Crouch

For those who might be interested -- try to get out and support Jeremy Crouch tonight!
Easy to get to his first game in his new job as teacher & high school basketball coach...

Jeremy is now the head boys basketball coach at Illini Bluffs High School and they play their FIRST GAME
tonight at 7:30PM in the Peoria Heights Thanksgiving Tournament - vs. Peoria Christian HS.
The game is at Peoria Heights High School - located between Knoxville Ave (Rt 40) and Prospect on Glen Avenue.
There's no Molinari's left playing at PCS but they should be modestly competetive and quick.....and it's been a few years since IB has really been real competetive in basketball..under IHSA HOF coach Mike Colston

Mike Colston would definately be a hard act to follow. Great Coach, great guy. Wish Jeremy all the best . If Jeremy can do half of what Mike did for IB he will be a HOF'er someday to.

A few years since they've been competitive? They were runner-up to Rock Island Alleman in the Williamsville Holiday Tournament last year, and beat local final four team Dee-Mack as well as Brimfield. I think they're record was 17-9, and they lost a bunch of close games.

I heard today from an area coach that I talked with -- that there are some issues at IB and we might be seeing some news coverage about it soon...

I believe Coach Colston retired 9 seasons ago, as I'm fairly certain I was coaching on the opposing team's staff for his last game. It doesn't seem like it's been that many years.

It's his first game. What kind of problems could he have already?

JC is a perfect 1-0 in his head coaching career...
both teams played terribly sloppy and tried to give the game away...way too fast paced with 2 turnovers for every 3 trips upcourt...

on the final play Illini Bluffs trailed by 1 as PCS made a nice 10 pt comeback - and then with no time left on the clock a ref whistles what many in attendance thought was a phantom foul and the kid drained 2 FT for a 1-point IB win
Congrats to JC but it'll be an uphill climb...

BTW the assistant for IB is also an ex-Bradley Braves player - Kevin Jones who was Jeremy's high school teammate at Pekin..

I'd be very surprised if they don't have a good record this year. I don't really know much about what they have as my kids are in the middle school and grade school. I do know the younger high school classes for sure had very good records in middle school.

It does sound like they looked bad last night, but I think they will have a good record.

If every new coach deals with it then why would there "be news coverage about it?" I spend alot of time around that school and know most all of the teachers, administrators, coaches and school board members personally and no one has said a word about anything. I actually called a couple of coaches last night after your post and no one has any idea about any "issues." Lord knows we're on the news enough with some of the other things that have happened and our teachers strike, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to make an accusation like that without a little proof.

Because you haven't heard anything does not mean others who have heard something are wrong.

I will be happy to discuss further in private but let me just ask two questions...JC is widely liked but I doubt anyone would get 100% parent approval....given some of the little known circumstances at IB...
have either of the last two basketball coaches had any such issues with parents and why were they dismissed??.....if you know the answer to those two quesitons then you could hardly deny that there might be more than a few parents asking the school board for a little more input & accountability..

                              Sounds like Small School America.

                              Happens all over the place.

                              I wish Jeremy well.
