After watching Geno in 3 games, does anybody want to change their MVC prediction?

I like what I see, and I think we are a top 6 team !!!!

Agree with you. I don't think we will play on Thur. in ST.L.

I think 6th or 7th is about right.

I do hope the writer (forget who it was) now thinks TB is at least one of the top 20 players in the conference!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I don't think the Braves are a last place team, but I'll reserve judgement beyond that until they play somebody decent.

Poor FT shooting, no depth and the lack of perimeter scoring will keep this team from being as good as we'd all like.

I like your optimism, but first realize we have played 3 games against teams that would probably not finish higher than middle or lower part of the MVC. Geno has them playing well and it proves there was a significant amount of talent here, unlike some fans predictions. But we'll face much stiffer teams in the MVC, and lack of depth (the fallout) will be a problem in some upcoming games.

I said I think Wofford will be the best early indicator. Until then I think I'm still projecting 7-9th, I also want to see us play on the road first. However, I can say that I think Geno is playing almost a perfect rotation of minutes, but I'd like to see the offense run through Pross a little more.

Personally Prosser is much better than I thought, and TB is
1)Playing much better offensively than I expected
              2)Being more mature

That said, this team still lacks a lot of depth..

The lack of depth is due to (poor recruiting over the past 4 or 5 years)

              Lets enjoy the process.

I do believe this team will not finish last.

How it plays in the conference at home is really this teams indicator.

Lets get to 4-0 before the wisky game.

Braves have got to stay healthy and keep out of foul trouble. They'll also have to be in great shape to go 100% from start to finish over 18 MVC games which will be needed to finish higher than 7th.

Will have to wait for a couple road games to get a better feel for their chances in MVC.

Any FT coaches out in BF.com who can give Geno some tips on how to improve his players FT %?

Time to bring Rick Barry in?

I still think that 3-7 is pretty much up in the air. I feel that Creighton and Wichita will be the top two teams and SIU, ISU, and Drake will be the bottom 3. The rest is up for grabs. I feel we're probably going to finish between 5-7. I felt like that before the season, and it hasn't really changed. Taylor Brown is playing better than I thought he would, as is Prosser. I just think our lack of depth will catch up with us. I think we have a great group of starters, and Jake is the ideal sixth man. Beyond that though, our team is questionable. DS and JC will be good in time, but aren't great right now. After seeing our group, I'm now leaning more towards 5 than 7, but I think we'll finish in that range.

Very hard to predict what BU will or can do in the Valley, I will also say that Prosser has been a lot better then expected which really gives us an inside game that we have not had since POB , we have done a great job as far as having 4 players in double figures on the offensive end, if we can just get some more contribution off the bench other then Jake we will win more then we lose, has been fun to watch our plyers get better, wish Taylor was coming back next year as that would make us a top 3 team next season.

Still sticking with a finish anywhere from 6-10 for a lot of reasons already listed above.....

                        Plus:

To date, we haven't faced a good zone defense. Given our tendencies to drive to the basket and poor outside shooting, it is tough to believe that we haven't faced many zone defenses.

Our offensive half court sets aside from feeding the post (which I love to see) have not been that great so far.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I still believe we will finish in the upper half of The Valley. I'm one of the few that has always been an optimist on this team...... anywhere from 4th thru 6th.

Spot on Ben. I've been talking about zone defenses since before the season started. We're probably not seeing zone yet because it's early in the season and unfamiliar opponents don't have great scouting reports. When we get to the MVC, we'll see plenty of zone.

                              Zac Andrews averaged 11 and 7 in '06 - '07.
