I didn't realize JE had that many boards! He did so many intangibles tonight, but when DOESN'T he???
I think the game is much closer if DSE didn't find his rhythm eventually...then again, if he found his rhythm in the 1st half, we would likely have won by 15-20.
TB has not disappointed thus far in the season. Most of us know he has aspirations of playing in the NBA someday, and tonight he showed us why he might have a chance. Still needs to improve defensively, but without him this season, 3-0 might have been 1-2. I really like his jumpers inside the 3-pt. line, and even from 3-land, I think he can give us 33% for the season, and if Jake stuggles like he has, that will be much needed.

DSE - kind of pulled off what TB did the other night, coming through down the stretch in a BIG way! Tells a lot about his confidence after he really struggled in every way before the last 6-7 minutes of the game.

Prosser is Mr. Consistency - you can pretty much count on most games where he'll put up 15 pts. and 8+ boards.

Free throws - Yikes!!! Walt looked like our best tonight, which is rather scary.
Nice game by Walt too, even with his "lazy" passes, which resulted in a few turnovers.

It seems every game so far has followed a similar pattern. Poor outside shooting by BU, good inside scoring coupled with somewhat porous interior defense that allows the visiting team to stay close for about 35 minutes. Then Bradley's superior athleticism and conditioning allows them to make a run late in the second half and put the game away.

Taylor Brown had a monster game with his family in attendance- 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists
Jordan Prosser with another solid game- 15 points, 9 rebounds
Jake Eastman with 5 points, and 10 rebounds, and 4 assists
Walt Lemon with 19 points despite foul trouble
DSE with 10 points, after a poor shooting first half, he sank 2 big three pointers that helped the Braves separate from the Fighting Sioux
And Charonn Woods played well and was on the floor when Bradley made their best run late in the second half.
Anthony Thompson also did some good things during the 11 minutes of playing time he logged tonight.

North Dakota had 4 or 5 players who would be solid players in the MVC- Anderson, Mitchell, Huff, Webb and Brekke. All but Mitchell are sophomores, so UND will be pretty good over the next couple years.

              Postgame recap: http://www.bradleybraves.com/ViewArt...CLID=205336462

Just curiouis, but why are sites like Rivals, yahoo, ESPN referenced for final stats? Why not reference the live stats provided at BradleyBraves.com? After all, the other outside entities are pulling the stats from the very same computer. Why should advertising revenue for page views go to the other sites, when it could go to Bradley? Something to consider.

Well guess it is time for me to liven up this thread.

I could start off with Walt shouldn't be a point guard.. blah blah blah

But I will state that while a lot of tonight's game was a struggle, this is the first game that the staff has shown me something! We had some different offensive sets and I loved the zone defense when Pross and AT were in the game!

I am still not very thrilled with our offensive sets when we are in a half-court situation. That being said, when we play uptempo, we are dare I say a little on the efficient side.

BTW, it certainly seemed as if Pross the Boss had more than 9 rebounds in the first half

I also think that the staff should come up with some plays to get Shayok into the flow of the game.

Nice win by the Braves and the staff. And by the way, Walt needs to be at the two guard.
                Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

So far this might be the best tanden of inside scorers that we've had for a long time. We'll see if that can continue when we start playing against teams that have bigger, more physical players. This is a pretty fun to watch so far. Except when we're at the FT line. Gotta somehow fix that if we expect to have any kind of a successful season.

You hit it right on that we need to fix the FT shooting if we want a successful season. Our inability to hit FT's until Walt hit 6-6 near the end kept N.D. in the game, gave them confidence the more they hung in there. Felt like we shot only 50% for the game.

I know this is a little thing, but I REALLY liked Taylor going up aggressively and blocking the dunk attempt with 9 seconds left. It showed a "not in our house" type of mentality IMO. The game was already decided, and if you are going to try and dunk it when the game is already over that doesnt fly. With how their coach prolonged the game I would have loved to see a back door lob or run out with a slam to say "you want to play to the horn? We will play to the horn".

Positives: Walt is a beast under control, Prosser is finally being utilized properly, Jake is a glue/energy/intangibles guy, Taylor healthy = REALLY good news

Negatives: free throw shooting(19-31), 3 pt shooting (3-13), turnover-assist ratio, half court sets(both offense and defense).

Another win on da board. Walt just may be the fastest Point Guard in the NCAA. Seems to be more under control this 2nd season also. The good defensive teams will stuff the paint and take charges though, so Walt going to have to work the offense a bit more during those games.

Going to have to work on blocking out more, to many 2nd and 3rd chances still. Can't have that against good teams, will be tough enough to stop them the 1st time. I notice to many players standing around the paint charge zone not blocking out when the shot goes up. Block as far out as you can and not just stand there waiting for the ball to clank off the rim.

The 1st loss this season will be a bummer to take, I just want this team to keep winning and keep the positive vibes flowing.

Nice Saturday night crowd for a Non conference game and how bout those students. I havn't seen that many students at a low interest home game in quite some time. I think they gained quite a few newcomers with the campus game.

Oh forgot, they need to keep working on the Free Throws also LOL. Missed another 12 tonight on 31 attempts. Should of been an easy 15-20 point win. Need to get this corrected if they plan on sticking to the slash to the hoop method.
