Man there is a lot of whitespace.
I would love to see a board where we could view player's stats from both teams at the RC. I would bet that Bradley could sell advertising near that space very easily.

They proably could if there was more than one game.

How was it a sellout? It looked to me like there were hundreds of seats left empty.

That is a mystery maybe someone in the media can get an answer for. But they go by tickets sold. So maybe those empty seats, and there were a relatively small number of them, were people who preferred to stand. I understand they sold a couple hundred standing room only tickets.

There is also the Women's games and Volleyball etc... I would have to bet that a stat board could be constructed that would pay for itself with endorsements etc.

The place was full. I would say most of those empty seats the tv viewers may have seen were people who were at the concessions or simply decided to stand to watch the game. There were lots of people walking around the whole game. For those that don't know you can watch the game from anywhere in the arena unlike the concourse setup at Carver Arena.

I understand that but I would assume men's games could command higher advertising fees than other events.

It was great to see the students show up and really get into the game, very happy that it was a sell out because the team really deserves all the extra energy that this type of crowd gave them last night and it was a great game , hopefully a lot of these students will get down to Carver sat. night and support their team.

answer is yes but they are not zoned for it, approved for it, nor licensed for it (Fire Marshall) ...yet ......best kept secret...

2 simple thoughts to make impressive student attendance more likely from a marketer:

-Take down any barriers possible to encourage participation. Don't charge students, just make them present a valid ID for a ticket. 10 years ago they charged $1/ticket. What purpose does that serve? Plus, you had to make the time to walk and buy that actual ticket within the limited hours the box office was open during winter months.

-Partner with local establishments students frequent already (bars and restaurants). "Encourage" Sully's or Crusen's to offer discounted food/drinks after games with a valid ticket. Their going there anyway, wouldn't they be more likely to attend the game if they were saving beer money later that night?

I agree with your line of thinking, but marketing people will tell you that charging nothing usually works against the concept of attracting attendance. Many marketing studies suggest that if you set the value of a commodity or service too low, such as zero, the consumer will perceive it as valueless and be less likely to want one (if it a commodity) or to participate (service). Thus the $1 charge is usually better. $1 is a small enough amount that nobody is going to refuse to go because of the price.

The game itself was a success because we showed improvement, faced adversity, overcame it and pulled out the W.

As for the whole event being a success....I don't know what the goals where in bringing the game up on campus. IF the goal was to increase student interest, only time will tell. IF more students start going to games downtown, then this was a success. IF there is no change in the number of students going to games, then this was not a success.

My problem with the whole idea was that it potentially is a limiting venue. Only 4300(?) can get in there. That COULD scare off a lot of people from going. BU is a program that has more than 4000 diehard fans. Many people, like myself, who are diehard BU fans can't afford to be season ticket holders. Playing at the CC allows for a lot of people, who go to a handful of games, the seating to go and watch.

I have no problem with this being a once a year thing, just don't want it to go beyond that!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Good point. It only becomes a success if the excitement and student attendance translates to Carver Arena. Bradley should not need to play games at the RC to have an exciting crowd. Unfortunately its been far too long since BU played meaningful games at Carver Arena.

Start doing that and you will see the student attendance and excitement level rise again during games.

I agree. We'll find out Saturday if student interest has increased. I certainly hope it has!
