  • ISU basketball players charged with battery

Sounds like Jank is waiting for all the facts to come out before he decides if these two can play Thursday.

If you cant go to school go to STATE!!

They probably got a little carried away celebrating their fine performances in the game at Fresno State. (a total of three points between them)

Surprised it took like long to make it on the board

I am hoping Jank does the right think here and suspends them for at least one game. They might be innocent and there may be more "facts" to come out about the case (self defense?) but they still put themselves in a bad situation. They are held to a higher standard. Hoping Jank does the right thing...

Imagine if this had been BU... PJStar would have a field day (if JL were still here?)... But it's ILSU, so it's par for the course.

It was reported in the Pantagraph as it should be and something this serious would have been reported in the JS no matter who the coach was.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

So far, the Pantagraph has a brief article about the players. When they have multiple editorials demanding harsher punishment, dragging out every indiscretion the ISU players have had in the past several years, calling for the coach to be fired, and using terms like "renegade program", then we can talk about the coverage being comparable.
But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that. Even when Jank had a player guilty of criminal sexual assault of a minor the Pantagraph gave Jank a pass.

Clark & Brown are charged with battery in a fight downtown at 2AM - at Main & Market where the only things there that are open are the bars..
We'll see........but if it is the first offense then they should get 3-5 games and allow reinstatement - but if these guys had similar troubles at juco then they should be gone.

what's surprising is that the Pantagraph has it before being tipped off by the message boards as was the case on the other ISU DUI's and stuff..
and like it was at SIU with DT's drug arrest -- usually the Panty is pretty generous to ISU and Jank has hidden stuff as well and not bothered to mention it
Will we see the same degree of penalty we saw with Sampay's DUI when Jank proclaimed he was immediately and completely suspended and would have further penalties determined later - then was on the court practicing the next morning and played the very next game never getting any penalty?

For the record-- this story was posted on the Redbird board at 1:25 PM in the early afternoon on Monday, and reported in the Pantagraph at 2:53 PM Monday.
The first post here on BradleyFans regarding this incident wasn't until 9:24 PM last night, and it was made by by a poster who is not associated in any way with the administration of this site, and has no history of being an ISU-basher.

It looks a little foolish to suggest we are scouring the news to try to find negative articles about the Redbirds when there were already 2 separate threads, and at least 25 posts on this story on the Redbird board before the first mention occurred here.

Wasn't making that accusation at all DC. Just commenting on how this board DOES report things in the news before many/most others because of the amount/quality of posters.

Oh, then I misunderstood. Thanks for the compliment!

Just be happy ISU is in Bloomington with the friendly Pantagraph covering them....

I, for one, hope the injured man is okay. I certainly don't find anything good about a situation like this.

Hopefully, the players get the punishment/counseling they need and the man who was attacked is okay.

I would also hope ISU deals with the players in whatever way is necessary.

This was a really unfortunate incident and I hope the punishment fits the crime. These guys gotta know better than to put themselves into a situation where this sort of thing can happen. What's interesting is that it happens to be both our new juco players (where was the rest of our team?).

Now as someone mentioned on our board, I would still like to see some of the facts come out. For example, if the victim dropped the n bomb, then they deserve everything thats coming to them, but if it was a dumb incident after having one too many then I agree that they need to be suspended for a duration of games. I do believe in second chances in certain situations. I hope they learn from their mistake and realize that this could have (could still) cost them their scholarships.

Rest of team sleeping - getting rest for the next game.

I believe harsher penalties for incidents in general should be enforced - perhaps even sitting out a season and losing eligibility. Then they'd really have to work hard to prove to the coach that they value their team more than their fun time.

I'm just sayin' - if we want to make a statement and tolerate less, that's the way to go. These guys are soooooo greatly privileged to be able to play at great facilities and get a free ride for their entire college experience.
So many take the opportunity for granted, and when they do something boneheadish, it's just a little slap on the wrist (in most cases).

I admire how Coach Les handled incidents by not tolerating as much as the avg. coach would. Looking back, I think the maturation of TB had something to do with his sophomore season and how JL dealt with him.

Give these college athletes a second chance, but give them a lot more time to think about how to correct their actions so they make the most of their...second chance. I know, I know - money speaks louder than LittleBrave wisdom.

I agree - two guys, strong athletes, that are 6-4 and 200 lbs punching me in the face would proabbly do some damage...
then again - since I don't hang out downtown or at bars at 2AM - I feel fairly safe- LOL

BTW -- I recall back when Osiris was a sophomore and underage - yet he frequently was tweeting
and even sending twitpics from bars at 2AM -- so I guess nobody at ISU considers this troublesome
...If Calipari installs curfews on his prima donnas who wag the dog, it isn't that difficult

Given the suspensions of players who aren't really contributing much anyway --
I found this comment by an ISU fan really funny...
"Whew, I am glad we have that early cupcake schedule.." - LOL
