Indiana St. wins 71-59, improving the Valley overall record to 10-2. A good taste later tonight for UNI against a tough St. Mary's team. Don't know if UNI is going to win this one.

For the first time since the 2005-06 campaign, the Sycamores have won each of their first two games of the season, including their road opener as ISU earned a 71-59 victory over Louisiana-Monroe in front of 1,236 fans at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

I'm failing to see much depth on the part of this Sycamore team, as they only used 8 guys - really only 7 contributed.
As someone noted in another thread, a team that goes with 7-8 guys will get gassed down the road. So if it's an issue with our Braves, it's just as much an issue with ISU-blue at this point.
I like our starting 5 (if you replace 2Yok with JE) over the Syc's, but maybe I'm biased. They definitely have the upper hand comparing PG play right now though.
One player is suspended for the first six games, one has a health issue and didn't make the trip, another had an ankle injury & didn't play and one was sicker than a dog the day before the game. Oh, the sick one was Carl Richards so he got a double-double and played hard anyway and the others mentioned would all be getting minutes if ready to go.
Northern Iowa played a 1 AM game at St. Mary's.
Looks like UNI shot poorly, especially leading scorer Anthony James who was 1-15 from the floor.
UNI got only 23 points from their starters.
Illini knocked off Lennox Forrester's SIU-E and Sam Maniscalco had a good game -- he was tied for Illini's 3rd leading scorer - 8 pts 3 asst.
Rumors of his demise are a bit premature
Indiana State had only 5 turnovers - very impressive!
8 pts and 3 assists, wow great job! Did he turn the ball over at all? This would be a great game if he was a freshman pg hes not hes a seasoned vet and still a trader, I thank him for alot of great memories but I'm still salty
If you saw the game or checked the play-by-play, Sam was on the floor when Illinois played their best, and made their runs and pulled away from SIU-E. That's is really what matters to BW. He's a very valuable part of that team, and in a way, he is like a freshman in that he is learning a completely new system.
