I have to disagree on Crean - the money they're locked in for and the good upcoming recruiting classes certainly have bought Crean at least a couple more years.
    I do agree on Lowery...

I would have to disagree with you about Crean. IU has lots and lots of doctor alumni dollars flowing in as well as a few other well connected alumni and can afford to buy out any coach they wish. IU isn't SIU. If IU doesn't make The Dance (maybe the NIT, but wouldn't bet that would save him) he will be out the door. Four years is ridiculous in the sport of basketball to resurrect a storied program. He should have been winning lots of games by his second year at the worst. He can recruit but seems like he can't motivate his all-american players to perform as a team............I say he be gone....

but he has several Top 50 kids lined up the next few years -- they're gonna give him time to land them at IU

I agree. Crean and IU would have to have a total disaster of a year or a scandal for him to get fired. They certainly won't want the "fallout" of losing all of those top recruits.

To me Lowery is the most obvious choice. Saluki fans are already calling for his head after that loss to the Dominicans.

Some discussion on the Lowery issue...

"(AD) Moccia said. "I can live with anger, even though it's not pleasant. I think what is
happening now is we're slipping into a little bit of apathy, and that's a little more dangerous.

"Our fan base has kind of turned, my gut tells me, from anger to a little apathy...
That apathy is reflected in attendance. The Salukis averaged a program-high 7,743 in 2006-07,
This season, Southern Illinois averaged 3,299 ..the second-lowest average since SIU Arena opened in 1964.
Moccia said season-ticket revenue is down considerably and donations to the scholarship fund also have decreased.

"Finances are real-world issues,'' he said. "You can't pretend they don't matter.''
Lowery has two seasons remaining on his contract, which pays him $764,000 per season."

              Will Bobo stay committed??

"Despite setting the school record for losses, coach Chris Lowery said the Salukis
(8-22, 5-13) haven't been distracted by rumors that his job could be in jeopardy."
