  • Stats during the game?

    Maybe BP can respond...

but I know fans would love to see more detailed stats DURING the game...
some fans can view a printed stat sheet at halftime and then once or maybe twice on the display/advertising boards at the far end of the courts - there's a little summary of the overall team stats...

BUT -- is there a way the BIG overhead scoreboard could be used maybe just every 4-5 minutes - maybe during the mandated timeouts - to give an overall display showing the team stats, shooting, rebounds, fouls, etc....
Just flash it up for a minute for the stats-oriented fan?

I would like that better than the kiss-cam...

Many other arenas have this - are we not equipped to do it?

I know you remember that old scoreboard in The Field House with player stats tornado. That was great.

I used to "spot" for the guy that ran the ones on the student side. Last game they were used was against Louisville, I think in 1974. Think the CC got taken on this new scoreboard. Might be good for hockey but not basketball.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

This is a slight de-rail, but looking at this picture got me thinking about a question. The Fieldhouse was standing when I started at BU, however, I never did see a mens game in a packed house in there. When people were packed in as tight as they are here, was the place as loud as I suspect?

The old stats scoreboard ... a creation of former neighbor, Merle Eagle. Totally agree with the idea of more mid-game stats, T.

The place was INSANE! I sure miss the atmosphere of that old place.

Actually, if you have a smartphone you can scan the QR code that is on the roster sheets they give out and it will bring up a browser that will constantly update throughout the game with stats. It's actually really, really cool.

Of course that won't help everybody, but I really love it.

I know - and some people near me were following on their phones...
but even then it forces the fan's attention away from the game - why not just use the multi-million $$ scoreboard?

Wow, yes the place was as loud as any indoor arena can get. I still think my hearing was permanently effected by some of those games when I was a student.
The stands were constructed of wood with metal struts. The lower stands, where the chair seats were located, were much more solidly built, but the upper level stands were constructed like scaffolding to lift them above the concourse walkway. When the fans were standing and cheering, those upper stands would start swaying and vibrating like an earthquake. There were many times I thought they would collapse under the weight of all the students packed in tighter than the rows were designed for and especially when the fans started jumping and cheering.

I took my tablet yesterday to follow the live stats (along with the Bears game) to see how it would go. While it was fun to follow the numbers in real time, I would rather not take it for most games.

I would concur that having the stats on the scoreboard would be my preference so I could keep my focus on cheering for the team.

I did this also. I usually just checked it during timeouts.

That's what I did as well. A little more entertaining than the Sombrero-Burrito race!

Though I don't disagree that during media timeouts/officials timeouts, it would be nice to flip that stats page up for 10-15 seconds.

                            Would be nice.

How about show stats while play is going on? Then when you want to show a replay, you could switch to video.

I thought I read a comment on here from someone tied to the Bradley athletic department when the new scoreboard was installed that the "stat package" was something like an extra $3,000/year for the program and the software updates to operate it.

Like I said, I thought I read that on this board somewhere when the new one was installed and Im really just too lazy to go back and try to find the thread.
