If WLJ wants to play at the next level this is where he'll need to play and better to get some exposure now and see if he can learn from it. I'm all for having the ball in his hands.....

OK Startdust, why start off as a junior member with a negative statement?

I admire how this board is staying positive after two expo games (Div II & III) and a reg. season game (very low Div I team). I will be interested to read this board after a couple of Big 10 games and two top MVC teams. Positive will fade away very fast. Please realize this "3-0" start is NOTHING. Don't get all excited just for a huge letdown (I.e. Illinis Football). And the earlier comparison to a BU 3-0 start vs. the U Cal Davis 0-3 start is a true "Apples to Oranges" example.

Currently, this isn't about WL getting to the next level. As we all know he is two years away from that consideration. This year, we can better exploit Walt's talent at the two guard. We are going to need his production and it is wasted at the point.

Honeymoon still on. Glad we won....Waiting to be impressed....
Why was putting Walt in the game at the 13 minute mark with three fouls a mistake?

I think Walt is Bradley's best defender. We shouldn't totally dismiss that. He was bad offensively yesterday. Really bad. He was really good the second exhibition game.

Walt is one of Bradley's better players right now and needs to play a bunch.

Good win for the Braves. A win is a win. Really impressed with Prosser. Wow. Great to see Taylor play so well after the layoff. DSE needs to have the ball in his hands the majority of the time---I don't care who is called the PG.

Jake was super. His ability to make outside shots will be a huge added bonus to this team. The other stuff he does is important but his ability/inability to make outside shots will really play a role on the season.

It will still be a long season from a W/L standpoint. However, if the team plays hard and represents well and improves then that is a victory in my book.

I would like this team a lot more if they had one more player - a shooting threat from beyond 15 feet. Neither Jeremy Crouch nor Andrew Warren were replaced. I love the guts, effort, and attitude, but I'm afraid it's going to be very difficult to win when teams start packing in the zone and forcing Bradley to score on the perimeter.

Huh? When did this become about the individual? I thought we were talking about a team sport and the coach putting his team in the best possible position to win. I don't believe WLJ at the point is the answer. I'm all for having the ball in DS or DSE's hands more than WLJ's. Hopefully he bounces back Wednesday night, because it seems to me Geno wants him to be that guy.

Walt demonstrated that he was foul prone during the game. Geno should have milked the clock to the 10 minute mark and then inserted Walt into the lineup thus giving Walt a chance to be on the floor at the end of the game when we needed him the most. IMHO a huge strategy mistake by the staff. They got away with it this time... Geno won't be that lucky against a better team.

To each their own. I think coaches in general worry WAYYYY too much about sitting guys in foul trouble. To me, its a bad strategy. Sure, sometimes it backfires and guys fould out of games but, in general, just let guys play, regardless of the foul situation. I also don't think certain players are "foul prone" on an individual game basis.

You get 40 minutes a game to use a player. If he sits from the 13 minute mark to the 8 minute mark its still five minutes that guy is not playing. I really, really dislike it when coaches have, as a rule, to sit guys the rest of the half after they get two fouls in the half.

Im not sold that five minutes at the end of the game are any more crucial than the minutes 13 to 8, for example. Play them until they aren't allowed to play any more. You don't get to carry over your unused fouls to another game.

He doesn't shoot freethrows well and has twice as many turnovers as assists. I'm not sure I'm all that comfortable with him on the floor at the end of the game.

That is one of the reasons I have been arguing to have Walt at the two guard! Just looked it up... Walt was a 66% free-throw shooter last year. Not the greatest, but I bet he improves on that percentage this year. He is one of our main players... I want him on the court during crunch time.

Agree to disagree...Depending on the player and the situation I prefer it when a coach sits a player with two fouls toward the end of the first half. -exception being a senior leader who is wise enough to not get caught making a stupid foul-- My main contention is to have the right mix of players on the floor when they are needed most.

I think it shows our incredible lack of depth if WLJ is one of our main players that needs to be on the court at the end of games.

True, but as of now, I can't think of anyone on the team who I would want on the floor in place of Walt.
