  • Yet another embarrassment for Calipari

The list of Calipari players who have been arrested, dismissed, involved in bar fights, fraudulent test scores, etc.... is endless...

    Now one more...
a couple of Cal's best players were out driving around at 2AM last night -- they get hit by another driver but one of the UK players ditches out and hides so he can't be found by the police...
BUT -- leaving the scene of an accident is suspicious so -- the cops track him down and find evidence he's been drinking --
now both these UK players are well underage...and if they're driving and drinking at 2AM on not just a school nite
but a GAME DAY!!! - and then leaving the scene...it sure smells fishy...

Calipari gave the appearance he was disciplining Jones - his best player - when he chose not to start him....bnut he put Jones right in when Kentucky's offense was sluggish...

In one other game last night Stanford beat Central Arkansas and ex-BU recruit Chasson Randle was the player of the game - 15 pts, 6 rebs, 4 asst, 1 steal

I doubt very much that Calipari is embarassed.

Maybe not, but I think he is embarrassed a little. Why else would he suddenly institute a curfew for his team, something he has never had at the start of a season, immediately after this story of these latest players getting into trouble?

This event occurred around 2:30 AM on the morning of their first game! In a post on Coach Calipari's website, he says that Terrance Jones now denies drinking, but then why did he flee the scene of the accident?

A local TV station did some investigating of their own, and they report Jones, who is underage as is Poole, was drinking, and left the accident scene after an altercation with the driver of the other car.-

But the account on Calipari's web site differs from information obtained by LEX 18, which indicates Jones got in an argument with Roseberry after the crash, then left the scene in another vehicle. Sources say Jones was found at a location along Alexandria Drive and was "slightly under the influence with alcohol." Jones indicated he left the scene, "hoping that Coach Calipari would not find out."

Just sayin'- if this happened at Bradley, there would be a plethora of righteous indignation demandin strong penalties for the players and laying the blame on the coach. We've seen it before for far lesser transgressions.

I don't know who would be doing that. I think every case is different.

Comparing to Bradley to Kentucky in anything men's basketball related is like comparing apples to apples. Usually those of us who follow Bradley have more details on BU situations than we do on those at other places where we just read some internet reports so trying to judge and look at both equally is nearly impossible.

All Calipari has ever done is win alot. That is what he is paid to do.

He also seems to have a long trail of NCAA rules violations, cheating, and player's in trouble or ineligible. Sure he wins a lot, but at what cost?
Is it OK to play with ineligible players as long as you win?
Is it OK to break NCAA rules, as long as it gets you to the Final Four?
Should players get away with stuff that would be punished much more strongly or not tolerated at other schools? It would surprise a lot of people to know how many of Calipari's former players have had run-ins with the law or spent time in jail.

is this an exact replay and deja vu - or what....how many times does Calipari have to be embarrassed by his players getting drunk and getting into trouble in the middle of the night??

Just a couple years ago at Memphis Calipari was embarrassed and ADMITTED it embarrassed him when half his team was involved in a major bar fight after 3AM..
heck - even the Memphis coaches were getting DUI's....

Guess what Cal did -- he never bothered to actually discipline any players - he just said he had no further patience and was going to impose a curfew....

Another little controversy for Coach Calipari...

Kentucky's game vs. Indiana is upcoming and Calipari just tweeted something to his million or so followers...many of whom are diehard Kentucky fans...

He suggested UK fans do everything they can to buy tickets for the game at Indiana, ebay, scalping, etc...
                - to masquerade as Indiana fans...even to wear Indiana gear and scalp as many tickets as they can then...
.. once inside to throw away the red shirts and sit in the seats wearing the Kentucky blue..

Of course this is enraging IU fans....

The football BCS is further evidence that the NCAA is a joke. Saban gets a vote and puts OK State at number 4, when they are clearly 3. OK State coach gets no vote! Boise State gets screwed again.
Back on human slime, Calipari should not be allowed to coach but he sits in the premiere job in the country. Makes me sick

Why shouldn't he be allowed to coach?
