I don't remember the original cigar-smoking, gun-toting Ace gambler mascot, but it would have been great if they revived that. But, in this politically correct world, we'll never see some of those things again. Too bad. Now instead, we can pretend riverboat gamblers were pleasant, jolly fellows who never smoked or drank, and never touched guns.

They have not revealed the new mascot yet, but here is the current one-

No, Willie Scott is in charge of the new design of the Evansville Ace mascot.
I think he can pull it off too.

The older Evansville version of their mascot Ace Purple was not only a mean looking gambler..
but the ace of spades hidden in his hat was there for the purpose of cheating and stealing your money,
and the guy also was depicted smoking a cigar and carrying a gun...
Hmmm...a lot of nice character traits to have representing your school -- and some whine over Native American imagery!


I'd love for someone to find and get us a copy of that older mascot - it has to be present on some of the older programs and media material...

Where is the outrage from all the 'purple' people in the world over this mascot? Barney should be outraged....

Where is the outrage from the professional gamblers out there, this is truly a nasty parody of them...

Seems distinctly white, male biased, non inclusive...Where is NOW? Where is Jesse Jackson and the NAACP? Shouldn't he be wearing a dress all you Gay Activists out there?

Shouldn't 'Yankee' Northerners be upset with this definite Confederate 'Southerner' image being used by a school getting Federal Funding?

Speaking of JJ, isn't this an obvious slap in the face to all black people and specifically black athletes, being represented by a rebel loving, remnant from Gone with the Wind? C'mon NAACP, get with it and defend your constituents....
