I always thought les was too negative. He always had his arms crossed and looked unhappy and yelled too often at the players and stomped his feet like a little girl. I think Les wanted to be the star and not let the players be the stars. I like That the players picked up on that too.

I'm sorry Bob but I respectfully disagree with you here. I can see absolutely no rationale behind your statement. Just curious as to why you "like that the players picked up on that too"?

IMO, Les was just not a great coach. Someday, with additional experience, he may be. While at BU he was still a work in progress. I think he'll learn from his experience and continue to improve; he's still relatively young. Regarding his demeanor I have two words -- Bobby Knight.

So true, Mo and JL struck out on a couple of recruiting classes and got behind the rest of the Mo Valley talent wise. It ultimately cost them.

Ummmm - you may want to look at some of the posts - don't have to even look beyond the thread...or maybe even the page on the thread.

Anyways, this is sports, and guys like comparing figures in sports - bottom line! It's something that's inside of us that we have to let out.

I think some fans are relieved that JL is gone (or at least that a change has been made) and they want to express that, and since we haven't even played 1 real game yet, the focus is still on the transition of coaches and styles/personalities of the coaches. After all, we're just starting to get to know Geno. And for some fans, it's refreshing to have a different style in coaches.

The comparison will not end, and may not even dwindle until Coach Ford produces results, or exceeds expectations in this first year.
And believe it or not, some fans think it's fun to criticize - whether it's toward a coach or players. That's just the sports world for ya' - I think we have to accept THAT rather than expect the JL buzz to end sooner than later.
I, for one, find it kind of hard to move on at this point, but refrain as best I can from comparision comments. Just being honest here. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Beni! You're not such a bad guy after all, as mentioned by B4L.
I think you took some lumps after your comments after Exh. Game 1. It's good to get a more realistic & objective POV once in a while.

I totally agree with this statement!! He also represented BU with class off the court...Did he ever really develope into a good coach? So how did he do developing players? These are the questions i asked when we were getting rid of Coach Les!! I will support this team no matter who is the coach because i am a BU fan!!

I also think you are misreading whatever you saw with Jim. I have watched him coach over 200 games in person, and I have never seen any evidence that Jim wanted to exhalt himself. He has his own coaching style, but nothing he ever did was something I haven't seen many other coaches do. I can understand the criticisms of his coaching, but he was not a bad guy in any way personally. There are myriads of people who are Jim's friends who will attest to that.

If anything, Jim shyed away from attention, and that was part of the reason some in the media did not like him. He never "wanted to be the star" at Bradley, he just wanted to win. Unfortunately, he didn't win enough to satisfy some people.

Reread my post and you will see that I never did compare coaches. The players were doing that.

I hope you didn't take my post to be directed at you, Chico.
I was just pointing out that we are not ALL trying to move on...well, I can't judge, but it doesn't appear that way, and I may be one of those who hasn't moved on, and may not have tried hard enough to.
Then I gave reasons for why comments & comparisons are taking place in general.

I could not agree more! He also helped developed some fine young adults, which is part of being a college coach. Both Coach Les and Mo represented the school beyond reproach and that pissed off some people because they refused to lower their standards to meet theirs.

Sorry then. You used my quote in your post so I figured you read it different than I intended.
