Regardless, I think everyone likes the idea of starting fresh.

Heck, the first line in one of articles of the HOOPS sections tells it all...

"It's been a long time - 11 years, in fact - since the Bradley men's team contended for the MVC title beyond the first month on the league season."

    That's just mind-boggling.

We are starting fresh and laying down the foundation. Onward and upward.
I can agree with the majority of your post.

Change brings comparison. Media write about story lines and the coaching change is one of the story lines this season. It's not unreasonable to compare and contrast the two coaches and ask the players' opinions.

If you win, yelling at players on a consistent basis isn't an issue because you understand that what you're being told (yelled at for) is to help you win. When you don't win for extended periods of time, yelling just seems like you don't have an answer for what is happening.

The methods of communication is vital to the success of a team. One of the strongest characteristics a coach can have is the ability to identify the best way to convey his or her message to the team.

While I think it's a bit too soon for the players to have a fully formed opinion about Ford's methods -- after all, they haven't played a real game yet or experienced losing or winning -- they certainly can have an initial thought about the differences between Ford and Les.

Obviously no one is going to say that they liked the former coach better than the new one. The new one controls playing time and other aspects of their day-to-day live. People would be well served to take the early quotes with a grain of salt and not overreact.

I thought we were supposed to move on without taking jabs at "the other side".

I had a response typed up in reference to this, but, once again, I have chosen the high road and will not engage in the pointless Jim Les argument anymore. I hope someday others will follow.

We'll see how it is over the next few years as coaches and players become more familiar with each other.
This is good lesson on the players part as to how to handle and answer media questions. I see nothing wrong with the player's responses. Maybe they could have been a little savvier though.... --all part of the learning process--

Gimme a break! It's just college kids being real. My interest is that they remain cohesive as a team - whatever results that follow - so be it.
It's not like they're claiming to be contenders in the Valley. I really like the renewed confidence and enthusiasm of our guys.
Where did say I expect a top 3 finish or contenders in the Valley? I'm all for them too as I have been for every Braves team. All I'm saying is quit cutting up your previous coach, but if you have to, go out and prove he was to blame for your play last season.

Not yet but hopefully we will begin expecting such things in 2013-14, at least I will. That should be when the roster will consist of mostly Geno's players. I'm accepting these first two years to be building years for the Geno era.

I would mostly agree. This is a process that will take time. I think he will be given some time, not 5 years or more, however.

I wonder if all fans will agree with this statement as the season progresses, win or lose.

Year 3 for Geno needs to be a good one... imho

Nothing could be farther from the truth. This statement could only be made by someone who has never heard of BradleyFans.com or was completely ignorant about Bradley to start with. I finished reading every Bradley article in the Hoops section, and though it's well done and I congratulate the PJ Star for their efforts, I looked carefully and did not find one single thing there that I did not already know from reading this board. In fact, I think I could have written many of those articles and had more information in them than they do. You guys have everything here any Bradley fan needs, and you always have it before anyone else. Congratulations.

Was the lack of depth because they didn't have talent or was it because the talent was never developed & trusted-either way it falls on the staff at that time.

I think its hilarious that this board is now saying the PJS is being "too nice" to the coach. I know your reply is going to be "well they should treat him the same way they did Jim" which is even more laughable. You people have complained that they have been too harsh on the BRADLEY COACH (lets take names out of this so we can focus on whats important) and now they have been "over the top sugary sweet". I understand that some of you have personal relationships with the former coach/give more to the school than I'll ever make so you're more invested than I am but come on. Enough is enough. Considering I'm not as big a fan since I cant afford to donate money to the school, I probably wont be missed but I'm done with this place.
