  • A bit of frustration...

So, I am a new season ticket holder. I was pretty excited to get my tickets and see exactly where my seats were. The ticket office told me I was 6th row, on the corner (I requested section 4). I get my tickets and go to sit in them for the first time and one seat is 3 foot higher than the other and theres a 4 foot fence/railing separating them. I went to where others were picking up there season tickets and explained my problem, and they were very cordial and offered me replacement tickets for this game and said someone would contact me tomorrow. That was the best they could do, no problem with that.

The tickets I received however were far worse than the location of my season tickets, which was upsetting but there were plenty of empty seats near my assigned seats. My frustration is really that I called the day I found out I was moving back to the area for sure to get on the waiting list. The ticket office told me there wasn't a list yet, so I called about every 3 weeks until they took my name and number. I put down my deposit within the first week I could and picked out my seats the instant they offered them to me. Now, my concern is that not only has every other new season ticket holder picked out there seats, but single game seats are on sale which will make it next to impossible to get seats even close to the quality of the ones I was expecting. I'm pretty bummed that BU had no flag saying those seats weren't actually together and that this is my first experience as a season ticket holder for BU. I'll wait and see what happens tomorrow but I've got a feeling I'll be asking for a refund and I'll play it game by game with individual tickets. I'm really glad I hadn't made my Braves Club donation yet, as I can direct that to my department if I don't end up with season tix.

Has anyone else ever had a problem like this? How did BU resolve it? I'm sure BU will do whatever they can, I just don't think they are going to have many options.

When I still lived in Peoria area three seasons ago, I had season tix in section 4 lower bowl, but higher up, for 5-6 seasons. Every season it seemed people bought season tix, or individual game tix, where the section was split with railing, one person on one side, one on the other.

You'd have thought BU would have noted this by now in their ticketing system and alerted potential ticket buyers that these seats, while technically adjoining, are separated by railing and in the worst cases, by elevation!

I would ask for season tickets behind the BU Bench that are reserved for recruits, family, or other VIP's... Or, a free upgrade to Tier I or Tier II seating at Tier III pricing... Or, being able to sit in one of the sky boxes... Or, being able to sit in press row next to DS and DA!... Or, if still around, the recliners courtside, or at the mezanine level, that fans win in a contest to upgrade their seats!

From my experience when we had season tickets, they just gave us what they had as we were in a corner in the lower bowl. It wasn't as bad as what you are describing, but the seats were far from ideal as the difference in height between the seats in front of us was probably half of what is normal on the "Concrete" section of the upper part of the lower bowl which made it hard to see the game (and I'm easily 6'3 so not short).

After having the seats for a year, when renewals came up, we requested a seat change because the view was not that good, even requesting to be moved to the lower bowl. We got no acknowledgement of the seat change request and were just given the same seats the next year, so my experience was not very good with the ticket office. I've since not renewed the seats as they were not worth the money for the view we had.

Talking to fans around me last night they recounted that many have had similar tales to both of you. I'm still holding out hope though as BU has already treated me well in the past, particularly the athletic department, though I haven't ever had much interaction with the ticket office before.

I'm getting somewhat dejected though, I gave my number last night and called first thing this morning, and have not recieved a call back, but it's still early.

Amckillip... I sat in one of the 4 corner elevated rail sections in the lower bowl last 3 years ( 5 rows up) 2 seats away from the rail... This year I got cute and looked for 2 seats in any of the 4 corner sections that were directly on the rail.... I knew that seats 10 and 11 were on the rail in row E but couldnt remember if the seats stagger in row F that I found...so when the ticket office said they were pretty sure it was the same i took their word for it... I ended up called a few different times though.. Happy to see last night that they were the same, and that I can still faintly hear ole yeller.

So I know exactly what you encountered.... I hope they get everything squared away for u

Well, I can't say that I'm particularly happy. I called and left a message, and left my number last night and did not recieve a call. I called again this afternoon and got the issue resolved, but my seats are further back, a different section and about 15 seats behind the baseline instead of right on the baseline. If it were U of Arizona (where I also had season tickets, and still do) and this happened I would have just asked for a refund, but being BU, I really wanted to see the games. We'll see what options I get next year, but after this experience, and looking at the fact there are lots of single game tickets available that are better than my seats I will likely be a one and done season ticket holder, at least for now. It's really dissappointing as I was very excited to have tickets, and just be a season ticket holder. Oh well. I guess you win some you lose some.

I wouldn't count on the ticket office helping you. They couldn't even process my address change that I called about 2 weeks before they mailed the season ticket pickup postcard. It still had the "notify sender of new address" sticker on the postcard.

I also tried a "change seat request" once a few seasons ago and got no acknowledgement on it. So before last season, I just let those seats expire and filled out the app after the expiration date for new seats. I'm not sure what was available in the lower bowl as I chose an upper bowl seat for no maintenance charges.

For the record, a lot of season ticket holders request change of seats every year. But due to the very small number of people who give up their seats, almost none of them ever hear anything about this request.
