It's most often about a 6-8 month process. First you fill out about a 12 page application. After about a month or 2 you get notified to go and have your photograph and fingerprints taken. Then you wait another 3 months or so until your interview/civics test. The citizenship exam was overhauled several years ago. I wonder if the % of passing test-takers has increased or decreased since the change.
