Even though most teams are still playing exhibition games, the actual start of play began last night...with three regular season games....

-Mississippi State beat Eastern Kentucky but it was fairly close - with EKU keeping the game within 6-8 points almost the entire 2nd half until they had to foul
the final score was 76-66....

Ex-Bradley recruit from Bloomington, D'Mitri Riggs had nice game off the bench for Eastern Kentucky, going 4-9, and scoring 9 pts.
NIU transfer Mike DiNunno launched 17 shots making only 4 and 11 3-pt attempts, making only 2...

MSU's Renardo Sydney had 9 pts, 3 rebs, zero assists and four turnovers

-Arizona beat Valpo 73-64 but Valpo held them even for more than a half...then fell behind ....losing by nine.

-St. John's beat William & Mary 74-59...Steve Lavin at home watching as he recovers from surgery
William & Mary more than held their own for at least a half and was leading St. John's 33-26 at intermission.
St. John's didn't finally take the lead for good until the final 15 minutes
God'sGift Achiuwa had 17/9 for St. John's and ex-BU recruit Phil Greene was 0-4 and scoreless with only one rebound.
I know SJU is hampered by some player ineligibilities but Coach Lavin must not have a lot of faith in his bench -- as only two bench players got in the game
