Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think anyone was really rooting against DS.

I believe most were simply reading into reports from scrimmages and looking at how Geno had been recruiting the point guard position.

I believe a large percentage already know that DS is a great kid and hope that he has a great career at BU.

BTW, awesome job DS. You only have one chance to get off to a good start!

Just wait n see, DS will prove all of the doubters wrong. I understand that we all want to see him do well, but some of the neg nelli's have their doubts. I have no doubt.

there must be a line somewhere between rooting against and reading into reports....that line was obliterated by a poster or two...but you won't see that poster fess up...doesn't work that way...but it happened...I was the opposition...but it is time to move on...proud of you D Stew! This person was a Bradley fan?

Personally I was/am skeptical of Donivine's ability to play at a high level in the MVC--mostly because a lack of physical skills. Donivine played great last night. I hope he absolutely makes an a** out of me. That would be great. Happy for him he played so well. Won't be the first or last time I've been wrong about something.

What I find a silly is the dissing of DS as a non-legit D1 player. I think we all agree those of this opinion are off base.

But what I also find a little silly is the anointing of DS as our new PG and that he has proven everyone wrong who thought he wasn't a D1 player.

Last night was a nice showing by DS vs. a mediocre D2 school. It gives us promise and hopefully a glimmer of things to come with him. But it's vs. low grade competition. Let's not heap too much praise on him (and too high of expectations) too early.

For the record, I believe DS will be a very solid PG for us by the time he leaves BU.

Stop! Exhibition games are incredibly meaningful and you can directly extrapolate them to D1 play! Unless of course you didn't like what you saw then it's just an exhibition game that you can't take seriously.

Realistically though I agree with you entirely. DS played well and it was encouraging, but let's stick with what the coach sees (you know, because he has plan and we shouldn't criticize him yet ) and DS will work into the starting rotation when he's ready. I have never been too high or low on DS either way, but I know having the offense run by a freshman can be a very risky proposition. Neither Sam nor DRuff were ready to run the point as freshman and I can't say DS is a better prospect than they were. In fact we'd be very lucky for him to emerge into that type of player. So let's try to moderate the expectations, good or bad, and take it for what it was - a promising start for an inexperienced freshman point guard.

Hayden Hoerdemann is another kid that I had heard some say was not a D-I player - maybe they're wrong- he also had a nice debut last night
                      In WMU's exhibition win - HH was 3-6, 7 pts, 4 assists, 20 minutes

I will own up to that asessment.

But again, that was just an opinion based on the fact that I (like a lot of us) have been around Div. I basketball for a long time and had see Hayden play many times in H.S. I certainly wished the kid well, I just didn't see the justification for some of his lofty class rankings.

Conversly, DS was an amazingly productive HS player for 4 years at a higher level of competition. He earned his standing in recruiting circles and I believe will be a very good player at BU.

what is refreshing, is that if you talked to Donivine, he would tell you he has not "arrived" and has work to do...

And how did our other potential PG's look against that same "mediocre D2 school"? I'd say DS was by far the best one on the floor!

I haven't seen anyone here refer to DS as the next Derrick Rose.

That is good to hear....love the attitude from the vast majority of players on this roster!
