He had the same chance to shine as everyone else. The difference is that he did.

I agree he looked good no question. But to say this is some statement game and that Donivine has arrived as a D-1 talent just doesn't make any sense. I don't agree at all, but the TCS references are valid.

I can agree that he hasn't arrived. Honestly, no one really has yet. These guys still have a lot of improving to do. Let's remember, they haven't officially been practicing very long. A lot of newcomers and a new system. Let's hope we see improvement with each game before the MVC season starts. Then, we'll all be happy.

Donivine played great - in my opinion he was Player of the Game...
He's smart, makes good decisions, gets steals, disrupts plays..
if there was a +/- kept for basketball I'd say we are +20 with DS in the game and -10 with him out
No doubt a nice game from DS tonight. I think we need to take tonight for what it was and not rush things on DS just yet. I think we can gradually fit DS into an effective PG rotation this year.
          Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

What he said! I don't understand why this has to be a confrontation or a "I was right", "you were wrong" thing. The weiner measuring contests are ridiculous. Good game for Donivine. It's great Bradley won. It was an exhibition game vs a bad D2 team. Not much more should be said.

I would think all Bradley fans would be happy the Braves won and there were some bright spots, while obviously some rough spots. Bradley won't win very many games this year but hopefully they play hard.

I don't see why the very first line of this thread had to be some attempt to call people out. I don't get it.

            Go Braves.

If Donivine can give us 20 minutes a game by the start of the MVC season I'll be very happy. We also really need 1 of AT/NW/DH/MK to be able to give us 15-25. After tonight, unfortunately I think the player most likely to be able do that is NW (knowing what I've seen out of AT previously).

Well I don't know what it will take for those who called Donivine a wasted scholarship or a Division 2 player, or said he'll be gone after this year to admit they were wrong, but tonight was a good start to proving it. I thought he was the best player on the court for much of the game, and he did not make a single mistake all night which is quite amazing for a freshman in his first game. Give me a full team of DS type players and I think we'll do just fine.
There was some ragged play, but I have seen a lot of early exhibitions in past seasons, and I recall a lot of them looking like tonight, so Im not worried.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Who were all these people? I don't think I heard anyone saying this... 'Other board'? I am very confused.

Yes, I don't think there were many people on this board saying this. But it was quite prevalent on another message board.

For the record, I believe it was all deleted from the other board.

Wow! That's a great line squirrel! Can you even say "weiner" on here?

But I disagree that we won't win very many games this year. I'm hopeful we'll be at least a .500 team.

I wouldn't be so sure about that DC. But, it was a good spirited debate with many predicting (not hoping) DS would not succeed. Personally, I think they are wrong.

He played great, lost his man a couple of times on defens which is to be expecte since he is a freshman, his shot looked great.

My thought exactly. I hope DS has a great season!
