  • Donivine Stewart

Ahem...those who thought DS wouldn't play at this level -- please place the appropriate apologies here...

Donivine played great - in my opinion he was Player of the Game...
He's smart, makes good decisions, gets steals, disrupts plays..
if there was a +/- kept for basketball I'd say we are +20 with DS in the game and -10 with him out

    TB played great

Jordan Prosser fine job in the low post

Walt - does a great job as a 2-guard but isn't quite there as a PG

Jake also played great and did everything

Shayok has a way to go - makes some very inexperienced moves

Nate Wells changes every shot when he's in there -- right now he'd be almost as good as half the starting centers in the MVC

DSE had a lot of muscle cramps and had an off game

Jalen hit one three that I recall otherwise shot poorly

Milos & Devon played little and didn't help much

Very good assesment except on NW. Not ripping him but he has a long way to go and can't agree that he could play w/ half the centers right now but will be very decent to good in the near future.
Have always stated that DStew could play as he has the best court vision that I have seen in a long time. I am sure you noticed that he was the one on the court at the end of the game keeping things under control.

Biggest concern is outside shooting but they were a lot of fun to watch and no one was going to sleep while watching the weave.

On the post game show, Jake Eastman also called Donivine the Player of the Game, and Coach Ford didn't disagree when he came on.
Taylor Brown's 25 points and 8 rebounds stand out, but considering Donivine was nearly the last player off the bench, he ended up playing 24 minutes (most of anyone off the bench except TB) and he had 12 points (5-5 from the floor, 2-2 from three) and he had 6 assists (easily the best on the team, and no turnovers (nobody else who played more than 3 minutes had as few). Donivine also had 4 rebounds, fourth highest on the team.

I am not a DS doubter and I think he will have a good BU career... but unless by "this level" you mean D-II, I think this post may be a bit premature, yeah? There will be plenty of time to prove the DS doubters wrong.

I remember when Scott Coles put up 36 in an exhibition game.
He did not score 36 the rest of his life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
            Or over "there".

I guess that poster couldn't even remember the name of the player he's talking about. I have a feeling we'll all remember Donivine Stewart....unless of course he gets recruited over and ends up going to a DII or DIII school where he can play.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

While I agree there will be plenty of time, what is the purpose of playing these games if not to evaluate your players? I guess WLJ isn't capable of playing PG at the DII level?

He is referencing the fact that it was 'Tyrone Cole-Scott' and it was '07 I believe.

There is simply no comparison --
Cole-Scott never proved his doubters wrong

                      Donivine pretty much already has

Now this assesment I agree with. Not sure what T saw in Nates play but I agree he will be an asset to us down the road. Got a long way to go but love his potential.
Loved DS more then anyone on the floor but TB. If he keeps improving and playing at this level he will see plenty of PT. He got his teammates into the flow when he was running the point. DS has always been a player and tonight he showed it. Way to go DS.

WHATT??? Who has DS proved wrong??? And how?? I am by no means a DS hater, but this is ridiculous. DS has arrived because he dropped 10 and 6 on a DII team that wouldn't stand a chance in any MVC game? Please.

Donivine seemed to fit in well. I picked him as a starter in the pool. As long as he keeps scoring, he'll get plenty of playing time.

I thought DS played well for a freshman in his first college game. If he continues to play at this level, he will definitely be an asset for the team this season.
