a little sloppy, not great defense but Parkside hit a lot of bailout threes...
overall a very satisfying first outing

Donivine Stewart deserves to be starting PG - PERIOD

Agreed! There was no one else that compared to him. I think he had 6 assists and no turnovers.

Walt was like 1 and 4 the other way around...

TB hit every FT he took - maybe 7 or 8 but everyone else was 50% combined --

The Pross must improve his FT's. Otherwise, it will be a long and frustrating season for him (and us).

It sounds like Geno is making excuses for Walt. I think he really wants Walt as the PG for his system..... Hope he opens his eyes to Stewart's success and stability.

I will be the first to concede we don't always see everything -- there could be more happening at practice and elsewhere -- so it is hard to say with certainty but unless we see dramatic improvement in Walt's tendency to dart places and leave the ball behind then DS looks like our PG

four of the five freshmen played like freshmen -- not bad just a ways to go...
one of our freshmen kinda saved us tonight from an embarrassing loss...

I am happy for DS and yet JP, TB, Jake, all played well - and Walt did also when not shouldering the PG duty

                  Stats-

a somewhat disappointing 1840 attendance; again I have to wonder where were the students?

                      Great job Bobby-

                      Here's DR's report

Donivine's stat line 5-5 from the floor, 2-2 from 3-pt, 12 pts, 4 rebs, 6 asst, NO turnovers, and I thought he had a couple of steals!

and indeed TB is 9-9 from the FT line and everyone else is 12-25

A very entertaining game. Fans are going to like this style. But we need to defend better. UWP got a lot of easy shots, and layups.

A couple of the freshmen looked good- Donivine especially stood out. He reminded of Sammy as a freshman, real steady and a very good passer. He also hit some shots.
I hope DSE isn't hurt bad, we can't afford any more injuries.
And lets hope TB stays out of the coach's doghouse, cause we need him.

Definitely.......that could be a BIG problem as the season moves along if it doesn't get corrected sooner than later!

I'm not convinced of DS' ability to run the point at a high level - I don't know if he could beat another MVC guard off the dribble - but I don't think he could be worse than Walt. I agree with T that Walt looked good when he wasn't running the point.

After 1 exhibition (so... nothing), I haven't seen anything to assuage my fears about no PG. I think for at least the first few games our best bet is to have DSE run the point, with Walt and DS splitting time at backup to see who emerges as the best bet.
