It was quite obvious last night that Sam was way too slow to compete with the Mizzou guards. They are some of the fastest guards in the country (Dixon, Denmon, the Presseys).
And whats with the all time greats line?! Sam wouldnt even crack the roster....Heck, IMO Sam wouldnt even make the "JV" team

Also, I would like to know who these heralded Illini big men are...

Ibrahima Djibde- 3-star center-
Mycheal Henry- 4-star small forward- Top 40 nationally
Mike Shaw- 4-star power forward- Top 60 player nationally-
Devin Langford- 6'7" small forward- 3-stars-

kind of silly comparing a PG with big men who don't play on their rebounding averages...
Sam is a welcome addition for the Illini who needed some leadership and he provides. That's what the coaches wanted the most and anything else he adds is gravy.
Not sure why folks feel the need to discredit him or make him bigger than he is....he will help them as long as he stays healthy....he will struggle with some BT guards but so will others in their league

He's already the team MVP, imagine what he'd be doing with 2 good ankles.

Originally posted by Da Coach View PostIf you are referring to my post, that's not what I am doing. There was an initial post listing Sam's rebounding average of 2.3 as if it is something embarrassing. I was just pointing out that despite Sam being a point guard, he averages more rebounds than many of the Illini big men, including several highly regarded recruits.
We'll see how those big man do in year 4 and playing 30 minutes on the rebound situation......those guys have a lot less turnovers than Sam too
just messin with ya....have a great Christmas....I'm off to Atlanta...
