  • Wichita State senior Toure Murry injured

Wichita State 1st team preseason All-MVC guard Toure Murry was injured during a dunk attempt in the Shocker Madness event Thursday night. He is described as having "sore ribs". However, he is also reported to have a partially collapsed lung. The report suggests he may miss "around a week of practices", but an air leak from a lung injury can sometimes be slow to heal, especially in an athlete involved in extreme physical exertion. I wouldn't be surprised to see an injury like this take a little longer.

Yikes! That injury sounds more serious than some seem to be making it out to be. I hope he's okay as Wichita St. has a shot at an NCAA Tournament bid again (at least if Bradley doesn't make it. ).

wow - I suspect that's a rare injury for basketball players...

One college basketball player who had a similar injury was this guy...and he sat out 2 and a half months before playing again.

I guess the original statement that they expected Toure Murry to "miss about a week" was incorrect as our excellent BradleyFans medical consultants predicted...
In fact - it's already been MORE than TWO WEEKS and Toure Murry did not play in last Tuesday's exhibition and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's season opener....
so the earliest he seems likely to return from his injury will be the next game in Puerto Rico on November 17 - a full THREE WEEKS down the road from Toure's injury...

Not knowing the complete scope of the injury I'd have to say 2-3 weeks is still a best case scenario.
