  • impact player????

wanted to start a thread because in various recruiting threads talk is he going to be an impact player or not. I realize it is subjective and opinion but with that being said i would be interested in a point of reference.

so. on the current bradley basketball roster how many players are currently impact players? and who are they? in otherwords, who are the impact players and who are the role players.

i'll start it off. ruff is an impact player. jj is a role player.thanks in advance for your opinion.

There is not always a clear line between the 2, and it's open to varying subjective opinions. I agree about Ruff and JJ. I think Zach is an impact player, as can Crouch be, because of his deadly shooting, and Will because of his speed, shooting, and defense.

It is hard to destinguish because it can vary from year to year. Last year JC and Will were role players this year both of them could be and frankly need to be impact players.
Basketball doesn't build character it reveals it.

I guess to me impact palyer has to do with consistency.
Ruff can play this way game in game out. I'm not sure ZA,JC, or WF can do that. they can have big games for sure but I don't know they will have major impacts on every game

I would agree with lefty. An impact player is one who can score, rebound or dish out assists consistently, game in and game out. They "grab" the stats that people notice the most. On the other hand, those who play good defense, set screens, etc. and don't grab the headlines are the more traditional "role" players.

IMO, I see Matt Roth as an impact player, because I see him capable of being a double digit scorer on a consistent basis.

            Impact Player

To me an "impact player" is the type of player who, by himself, can influence a game (in a good way. ).

I don't know if I'd put any of our current players in this category this year. Certainly, Ruff has the potential to be an impact player -- coaches need to game plan for him because of his quickness and his ability to run a team by himself.

If Crouch can average over 15 ppg and hit the "three" at a 40+ % clip, while creating a few scores off the dribble he has the potential to be an impact player this year (kind of a JJ Redick lite, I hope).

I don't see any of the rest of this team as causing an opposing coach to do any special "game-planning".

Now, in the future I do expect Warren, and hopefully Brown if he's around, to be impact players. And, for all the hype, Williams, Fear and Thompson had better be impact players. I also hope X will be one before he's done (and if we ever get him)

Definitely someone that other teams have to game plan for...I agree that we have a few that could become impact players, but no one that teams alter their game plans too much for like POB, Cellus, AP, Dye, Robinson in his last year...and as much as may dont want to hear it Granger. Those players could dominate if not planned for.

                  Impact players

I do not know about impoact, but IMO the one player this team cannot absolutely not lose for any reason is Zach Andrews. There is not another player that can match his presence., his rebounding, his athleticism for a "big" and his inside D.
