    Throwback Theme Highlights Campus Game
    Release: Thursday 10/20/2011
    by BradleyBraves.com

PEORIA, Ill. – Fans attending the Nov. 16 Bradley men’s basketball game versus Southeast Missouri State at Renaissance Coliseum will be treated to a “Throwback Night” theme that will include a reunion of the 1982 Missouri Valley Conference and NIT champion Braves.

The game against the Redhawks will be Bradley’s first regular-season game versus a NCAA Division I opponent played on campus since the 1981-82 season. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the 1981-82 Bradley Basketball team’s championship season, the players and coaches have been invited back to The Hilltop as special guests for the first Braves Club Gameday Luncheon of the season Nov. 16, as well as a halftime tribute during the game against Southeast Missouri State.

In addition to the tribute to the 1981-82 team, everyone in attendance will receive a t-shirt modeled after the warm-ups donned by the Braves during the 1985-86 season when Bradley swept through The Valley with a 16-0 league record and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The first Braves Club Gameday Luncheon will be held Nov. 16 in the Bradley University Michel Student Center ballroom. Doors will open at 11 a.m., the buffet style lunch will be served at 11:30 and the program will begin at noon. Luncheon tickets are $20 for Braves Club members and $25 for the general public and may be purchased in advance through the Braves Club Office by calling (309) 677-2667.

Tickets for the Nov. 16 game versus Southeast Missouri State are being sold through a staggered plan at the Renaissance Coliseum box office. Discounted tickets for Bradley University students ($1) and faculty/staff ($10) are currently on sale and Bradley Red Sea members are reminded to redeem the voucher for the Nov. 16 game they received with their season tickets for that night’s game ticket at the Renaissance Coliseum Box Office.

Braves Club members at all levels may begin purchasing tickets ($20) Monday at the Renaissance Coliseum Box Office for the Nov. 16 game and Carver Arena season-ticket holders who are not Braves Club members may begin purchasing tickets Oct. 31 for the on-campus game. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Nov. 7.

Oct. 24: Bradley Braves Club members may begin to purchase tickets at the Renaissance Coliseum Box Office for the Nov. 16 game versus Southeast Missouri State. Tickets are $20.

Oct. 31: Carver Arena season tickets will be available for pickup in the Nick and Nancy Owens Atrium at Renaissance Coliseum. In addition, season-ticket holders will have the opportunity to begin purchasing tickets from the Renaissance Coliseum Box Office for the Nov. 16 game versus Southeast Missouri State and tickets will go on sale for the Nov. 8 exhibition game versus College of Wooster. While the Nov. 8 exhibition game is part of the Carver Arena season-ticket package, individual ticket prices for the game range from $8-20, based on location.

Nov. 7: Single-game sales will begin for all 2011-12 regular-season Bradley men’s basketball games, including general public sales for the Nov. 16 game at Renaissance Coliseum. Single-game ticket prices for all non-Illinois State games at Carver Arena range from $8-20, based on location. Tickets for the regular-season finale Feb. 25 versus the rival Redbirds range from $8-22.

Next time I'll leave the links alone.
But this one was important to get everyone to see, IMO. Many of us old timers have been waiting a long time to see that 1981-82 team honored. I hope we get as many palyers and coaches back as possible.

How about showing the 2nd half of the NIT championship game on the scoreboard before the game?

ETA: they are seriously honoring this team on campus and not at the PCC? Nevermind.

I will no doubt be at the luncheon. IMO though this team should be honored and remembered at Carver Arena where more fans can be in attendance to pay tribute to one of Bradley's all time best teams who should have been invited to the NCAA and had the team to win it all.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Nonsense.....must sell out the RC, especially since it doesn't look like 1500 students are going to show up.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

What part of IMO don't you understand. If less than 1500 students are going to show up, why are the Braves even playing a game in the new gym? This team had the whole community involved and many of us took the trip to MSG to watch the games there. Honor them in an arena where it's for the loyal fans, not the ones who weren't born when they accomplished so much.

First of all, I added the in hopes of people picking up on the sarcasm. Guess I was wrong.

Secondly, it's a message board so I feel it's safe to assume most posts are made in the opinion of the person making the post. I understand all of that!

Finally, I agree that this game (or any other regular season game) should be played at Carver Arena where at the very least all of the season ticket sales can show up.

Sorry, never caught the sarcasm. Should have remembered we're on the same side of this issue.

Strictly a business decision to get more people at a game not in the season ticket package.

Actually, I think it's quite logical. Bradley has approx. 7000 season tickets and decides to play a regular season game in a 4200-seat arena. There are 1500 tickets set aside for students since this game against SEMO is supposed to spark interest in the student population. The student section at the Red/White game has been declared a disappointment by everyone who has made their opinion known. An announcement is made that one of the greatest teams in Bradley history will be honored at this game, where a good number of season ticket holders will not be able to be present. It seems to me this decision just continues to take a turn for the worse. If the decision to play this game on campus was indeed to make money on a game that wouldn't make money at Carver Arena, I beg to differ. I believe a game against SEMO, in which one of the greatest teams in Bradley history is honored, would do quite well at Carver Arena.

Having explained all of that, I don't feel my previous statement sounds like "whining" at all.

I get it....you don't have a problem with any of this, but please don't say those that happen to disagree are simply "whining".
