not having any other quality point guard/leader on last year's team besides SM = poor job
Agreed completely. When EM didn't pan out that should have been addressed. All the eggs were put in the DS basket, not a smart decision IMO. If SM didn't get injured, he couldn't have played this year anyway. Not fallout in that regard. Unless we were banking on RA or SH being leaders that is. (I guess you could argue RA was a PG...)
No coach plans for injuries to his key players. We did have backup point guards and I thought they played well under the circumstances.
Will the critics be consistent, now that the last coach is gone? It doesn't appear so, and in fact we are already seeing some hypocrisy.
And RA is a PG, and will likely be playing PG for a Big Ten team this year.

I don't think the injuries have anything to do with having a leader or experienced PG though. If Sam wouldn't have gottern hurt last year, who would have been our PG this year? What about leader?
Not directing this at you amc, but the JL haters will continue to take their shots, no matter how irrational they are. It's hilarious that anyone would try to blame JL for lack of leadership or any deficiencies on the team this year. Reminder-- he's gone! if JL was here we would have SM, and nobody would be questioning leadership. Even if SM was gone, JL would have recruited appropriately to fill that gap.
Peole have criticized JL for a lot of things, but he always had good PG play and he always had strong team leaders, and he would have had those things this year, too.
I also happen to know he was close to signing one or two additional very good players in the late signing period last April, but his termination prevented that.
My original question wasn't meant to raise controversy. I am just looking for something to get me back in the spirit of bu basketball. Now that I know Nate Wells is a Lutheran christian, I have a new favorite player.
So I think I heard a half endorsement for DSE and an endorsement for Wells, I'll hazard a guess and say Jake Eastman. He seems to rise to the occasion when nobody else will. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Sorry Coach, but YOU don't seem to be able to move on... Your "fallout" post came out of no where and continues to show you can't let go of JL. Remember, 'he's gone'.
Your would have been/could have been/should have been comments are now unsightly. Take your shots at who you perceive anti JL off line from this Forum. It's time to move on and stick to who we have on this Forum.
tell that to the angry cynics who still bring up obscure comments and opinions from 5-10 years ago to keep taking their swipes at others...
Da Coach's comment wasn't aimed at anyone particular and was actually an ON TOPIC comment that was a legitimate response to someone else wondering why we might lack leadership..

It is too early to tell who are vocal leader on the court is going to be, we will see when we actually play against competition, I think some of you are worrying too much over things that will be solved in the next few weeks as far as leadership and player rotations, our new coach will direct us much better and I trust him to be a good decision maker as far as if we need to redshirt anyone, my opinion on that is we do not have the luxury to do it .

Sorry you cannot tell a serious post from a joke. The fallout post was a jab at those elsewhere who keep mocking the "fallout"- the fallout jokes work both ways. Some may want to forget, but all the talk about not enough at point guard, no leadership, and no depth at the 4 and 5 this year that has filled our board and others is indeed the fallout that was predicted. All of those issues would not exist if there hadn't been fallout, and that was expected . I am as big a fan of Geno as there is, but does anyone seriously think this team would have been picked 9th?
And believe what you want, but there is still mountains of evidence of the JL-hatred that still exists here and elsewhere. They are the ones who can't let go. It would be nice if we could just close our eyes and pretend SM, RA, SH, and the additional recruits that were about to commit never existed, but they do. They are just playing somewhere else.
I think both sides make valid points, and I also think that people are going to have to agree to disagree. No one needs to "let go" of anything. I think that statement is wrong, condescending, and pretty much impossible. If you love JL, love him. If you hate him, hate him. But the same argument that we have been having for 10 years keeps creeping in when someone from one side or the other takes swipe. If we can get rid of the swipes, we'll be fine.
