I'm not worried about TB being ready for Game 1 of the regular season. Shake off the rust in the 1st 2 exhibition games and he'll be ready to rock.

Free beer and food woud be sweet.
But the fact is that last night was a scrimmage on a Tuesday. Plus all of Greek life has chapter meetings at 9 on Tuesday so a lot of them would have opted out.

Thanks for all the info. on the Red-White Scrimmage.

          Encouraging...Sounds like effort was there.

GF has a track record of being able to coach. So, recruiting, recruiting, recruiting will decide the ultimate fate of GF and the Braves program!

PS Playing on campus may not be as important to student attendance as thought/hoped for. Appears BU has a ways to go (parking/audio) before considering more games on campus that count....

            Guys,

If this team isnt a contender, which its not, and Nate Wells has a shot to be decent, I would much rather have him in his 5th year than his first.

just about every 7-footer wants to play professional basketball - many having NBA dreams...
that being the case - the smart money would say a year as a redshirt would go along way to helping Nate achieve that

The only guy who shot 35% last year graduated. Somebody is going to have to have made significant strides. It's happened in the past, but I don't see it on this team unless DSE is a better shooter for not having to handle the ball so much.

                  1. Hopefully NW won't decide to bail for the NBA after one red shirt season and one playing season at BU!

Perhaps two playing seasons at BU for NW wouldn't be such a bad idea after all...

                  2. KP doing advanced scouting for ISU Red?

Sorry, that excuse just doesn't explain the extremely weak turnout. The scrimmage was over before 8:30 pm. I live 15 minutes outside Peoria, and I was home by 8:40pm. This scrimmage was heavily promoted to students by Bradley and by the Red Sea guys, and students were admitted free.
Maybe students just don't care enough any more.

Was anyone else disappointed in Coach Ford's comments last night? I thought Paula Buscher did a much better job when she spoke about the women's team. I don't get to the "galas" so I was hoping this would be a good chance to hear from the new coach, and he spoke for what -- two minutes?

I enjoyed past scrimmages when Coach Les introduced his players, especially the newcomers, with some personal stories. Coach Buscher did that last night with the story of her player who ran a charity golf outing this summer. All I remember Geno saying was that the program needs to get back to where it needs to be.

I'm for that, and think Geno can be the guy, but really wanted to hear more from him last night.

BTW, Lemon, Shayok, and AT impressed me on the court.

Couldn't this be said for all freshmen? I'd say there's something seriously wrong with a kid that isn't better in his 5th year than his first.

That said.....I would rather have NW coming off the bench this season than DH.

I completely agree, which is why I find it amazing that an on-campus game against SEMO is supposed to increase interest among students. Then again....it might not take much to increase that interest. We'll see.
