New Creighton Commit?

Class of 2012 Deontae Hawkins appears to have just announced for Creighton on his Facebook page...

He was leaning towards Wichita State but seems to have changed his mind after going to Bluejay Madness..

That's an impressive list of schools that were interested in this kid's services. It seems "the hits keep on coming" from Creighton. This could be another big-time pick up for the Jays.

He sounds like a good player for Creighton, but other recruiting sites don't list all those schools as offering.

This article from a little over a month ago, lists his final 4 offers as -Dayton, Auburn, Alabama, and Wichita State (not Creighton). Creighton got involved just recently after his high school teammate Andre Yates, committed to Creighton.

And maybe some of the offers were old, since some of those schools have already signed other power forward recruits, and he doesn't mention many of those offers in that article above.

Jordan Granger is another pretty good power forward recruit from St. Louis, that Bradley recruited under the last coaching administration.

According to The Bluejay Cafe this is NOT a done deal...... yet.

He is slender and about 6-6 according to many sites -- and one recruiting blog from late July was saying he was NOT even a starter on his AAU squad, All-Ohio Red..
but by the end of July he was starting after some good performances.

Less than a month ago - he claimed his final four were
Wichita State, Auburn, Alabama, and Dayton.
But as Da Coach noted - just about all those schools filled their scholarships -- even Wichita landed two forwards's - Cleanthony Early & Derail Green (a virtually identical player as Hawkins)..

...and so it looks like maybe all those schools that Hawkins was waiting to decide on - all had Hawkins as a backup option but then filled out their available scholarships, causing Hawkins to expand his choices and take the Creighton offer.
I guess the eye-opener is that Dayton decided not to pursue him and he's right in their back year and wanted to go there!
