  • Coach Mo in the news...

Coach Jim Molinari is in the news for a couple things...

-first - WIU apparently JUST NOW finalized their schedule...and despite being picked at the bottom of the conference,
Coach Mo says he is excited about the talent he has and the challenging schedule that includes Dayton, Michigan, and a game in Chicago with UIC that he's looking forward to helping his ability to recruit in Chicago.

    - second - in an interview Jim talked about finally having his son Billy Molinari healthy for the first time in 3 seasons....and he said this about Billy...
"Coach Jim Molinari on his son Billy: "Never go inside the three-point line."

Want to wish Coach Mo good luck this season. He was always one of my favorites even though he didn't like officials.

Lefty, your right on that one. We had some very interesting chats during his summer camps. I enjoyed my time with Mo. Very interesting person with his views on officating.

Lefty -- you probably knew all this -- but Coach Mo starts the new season with THREE new hires on his coaching staff...

-Just under Assoc. Head Coach Billy Wright - is ex-BU assistant Kyle Vogt.....LINK

-Then the new Director of Basketball Operations is Micah Lavender - who is a lifelong Peorian..and Micah led his Peoria Christian HS basketball team to the State Finals in 2004...LINK

-The Student Manager is Mark Molinari - a WIU grad student

Just watch the ISU games from Mo's first year at BU (thanks Double D). I had totally forgotten about some of those players. Sean Smith? Roger Suchy? Those are names you don't hear very often anymore.

Also I am finding a new respect for Andy Bastock's game.

In other news, Bastock looks just like Chet from Weird Science.

Kind of funny there.....2 of 3 have been at our house many times and one in my office many times.....

WIU is my 3rd favorite college team...hopefully they do well this year.

of course...as you know most of my coaching was done from the stands....and I'm proud to say there was never a wrong move there.

It was great to be around all those kids over the years...but also how they have grown up .

I think I coached against more D-1 girls than anything though.

This may be an opportunity for DBO at WIU, Micah Lavender, to move up the coaching ranks with Kyle Vogt leaving - http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=21171

Maybe...Micah is also getting married next year......so that decision may not be entirely up to him
