Whoah whoah whoah. That's a fun addition caused by NBA strikeyness.

I MAY actually go to see some games when I'm on break. HOLY CRAP I didn't think this league would catch players like this, good on the strike though!

The Central Illinois Drive are part of the PBL (Premiere Basketball League). There has never been any public discussion of anyone starting a PBL team in Peoria, though if it can be financially successful in Bloomington, I do not see why it couldn't work in Peoria. Let's hope someone gives it a try.

Peoria did have a recent semi-pro backetball team in the ABA (American Basketball League). The Peoria Flames were formed last spring, but things deteriorated as they tried to put the team together, and the franchise folded last month-

AJ Guyton was hired as the coach of the Peoria Flames, and when they folded, he immediately got the job as the coach of the Drive.

Back in 2006, another Peoria pro team emerged as part of the ABA, the Peoria Kings. They run by out-of-town owners, and were coached by Sergio McClain. They lasted parts of 2 terrible seasons, then folded.

I do think pro basketball could thrive in Peoria if it was owned by locals and run properly.

Hopefully if the League keeps attracting players like Livingston this year investors in P Town will take up the reins!

These leagues draw very few people so that is why Peoria has no sponsors, I doubt it lasts more the one season.

Especially now that the NBA is going to be on.

That's strange. Could the 12/31 game be a preseason game since the January 8 game at STL as the first one on the schedule? Their schedule page also lists the January 12, 2012 game as "Opening Night", the first home game, and their season ticket promotion lists 10 home games, which doesn't include the one 12/31.

And yet they are promoting the 12/31 game as a regular game.

I don't know if any newer threads was posted about this but Livingston is now playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. Played a healthy 25 minutes in yesterdays pre-season game.
