Gerry, I'm with you. Can't wait to get it started. We only have one way to go and I think Geno will get us going . It may take a year or two but I think the wait will be worthwhile.

Practice starts this Friday PM. I can't wait.

There is one event this week with Coach Geno Ford and Coach Bruce Weber- it's the Independent Sports Club "Smoker" on Thursday night. As usual, it is sold out, and has been almost since last year's event. This year it is at the Cornerstone Building instead of the Lariat Club due to some construction, I think.
We should be able to get a full report of what is said by both coaches. Anyone else going?

I drove by the L Club for the first time in forever and for a second thought there was a fire? The whole middle section was gone and major construction going on....glad it is construction.

Here's a local story on the Lariat Club undergoing some construction and why --
it was damaged two years ago during an ice storm and a portion of the building finally reached a point
where it couldn't be shored up any more and had to be torn down and rebuilt...

Sounds to me like a good starting lineup and weak bench. I think how the Freshmen on the bench play and injuries may determine our success this year.

I am concerned about our PG. I thought DS would be ready to take the reigns and log 25-30 min. per game - not that he wouldn't experience growing pains as a frosh, but that he'd be a bigger part from Day 1.
If JC steps up, that would be huge. I think WL could start at PG, but he's a little shaky from what I saw last year.

What I like is our length and quickness of the starting 5. We should be a good defensive team - just hope we can rebound with the bigger teams.
All 5 projected starters can dunk pretty easily - when's the last time we've had a line-up that could do that?

I am a fairly tall guy, but it has been a while since I can honestly say that I haven't looked downward at the majority of our starting five!

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

The only problem is that 3 of the 5 are lean - at least JP & DSE won't get pushed around. I think that TB & WL are stronger than they look - not sure about 2YOK.
