  • Another preseason MVC preview

This one from a college basketball blog site is pretty good.
The writer does a pretty good job of researching the MVC teams-

Here are the guys behind this basketball blog site-

They select Dyricus Simms Edwards as their predicted "breakout star-

Breakout Star: Dyricus Simms-Edwards, Jr., Bradley

Simms-Edwards averaged modest numbers as a sophomore, putting up 10.5 ppg, 3.5 apg, and 3.3 rpg. As the lone returnee among the Braves top five scorers, however, Simms-Edwards is going to be counted on to have a big year in 2011-2012. And based on the way that he finished last season, there is no reason to believe that he can't capitalize on the increased number of shots he will get. The 6'2" guard averaged 16.1 ppg, 4.5 apg, and 5.5 rpg over his last five games, and that was with Andrew Warren -- the MVC's scoring champ -- still on the roster. If he can improve on the 28.2% he shot from beyond the arc, Simms-Edwards could end up being one of the best guards in the conference. His late-season improvement combined with the potential return of Taylor Brown to the lineup is a reason for Bradley fans to be optimistic heading into the fall.

However, I don't see 3 Creighton players on the first team All MVC, and I think picking Evansville 4th may be a little high

Personally, I like that Bradley is picked above ISU and SIU. With Taylor Brown back in the mix does that also put BU above Drake, UNI, and MSU? It does in my book.

This year's Blue Ribbon Guide is out and I'll have more on it when I have a chance to read it - as usual it's lengthy although not always that informative as a lot of the info is stuff either right off the individual teams' websites or info left over from end of last season.

Anyway -- here's how accurate they were last year...
They picked Wichita State to win both the regular season and the tourney-
...but Missouri State won the regular season by a game over Wichita, and Indiana State won the tourney

..and .........they picked Weems, Colt Ryan, Lawson, TB, & Murry as 1st Team All Valley-
....but they got only one in five picks right as the 1st Teamers were Warren, Weems, Durley, McDermott, & Kwadzo Ahelegbe.

DR didn't do much better - but at least got two of the 1st teamers (Weems & Kwadzo)

I looked at all the posts by BradleyFans posters back before last season - and almost EVERY BU fan who ventured a guess - had Warren, Kwadzo, & Weems all on the Preseason 1st Team - so I think our posters rock!

BTW -- just a few tidbits

1st Team AA - Syracuse's Kris Joseph, North Carolina's Harrison Barnes, Kentucky's Terrence Jones, Ohio State's Jared Sullinger, & Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor.

      Top 25

      1 North Carolina
      2 Kentucky
      3 Ohio State
      4 Syracuse
      5 UConn
      6 Duke
      7 Vandy
      8 Pittsburgh
      9 Florida
      10 Arizona
      11 Kansas
      12 Memphis
      13 Louisville
      14 Xavier
      15 Wisconsin
      16 Texas A&M
      17 Florida St.
      18 Alabama
      19 Baylor
      20 Michigan State
      21 California
      22 Marquette
      23 UCLA
      24 Mizzou
      25 Michigan

I don't expect many of these bloggers to be perfect... but he talk about if Kenyon Smith with get healthy, and if Justin Clark will live up to his potential.

The blogger seemed to be pretty well updated and informed about most of the MVC teams and personnel, but those were notable exceptions.

This blogger definitely is up to date on most stuff - and you can tell he's been reading off the various teams' message boards...so he knows about all the off-court stuff!
But hard to figure how the guy can NOT know about Kenyon Smith & Justin Clark being gone.

Another blogger's preview of the MVC. This also contains errors. Though he knows Taylor Brown was just cleared fully last week, he nonetheless projects Will Egolf as a starter.

Sounds like a clear NCAA tampering violation...
"Guard Rayvonte Rice.. rejected a number of offers from higher-profile programs to transfer, and will remain in Des Moines"

..CU has some new guy named Antonio? & Johnny Moran playing point guard?

BTW Kenyon Smith is already having more success at his new school than he ever did at ISU....

at their Madness event he won their dunk contest!!
