Andy Katz features Creighton on ESPN site -- "Bluejays Primed for Return to Glory Years"

If Greg McDermott were still at Iowa State, he would be sweating the upcoming Big 12 season and wondering where the Cyclones will be playing future conference games.

Nice publicity for Creighton, but not much publicity for the other schools in the MVC. Katz never mentions that there are some other pretty good teams in the MVC. With last season's preseason Player of the Year Kenny Lawson, Creighton didn't come close to winning either the regular season or the tournament last year. They finished tied for 4th last year with UNI, with Missouri State, Wichita State, and Indiana State all ahead of them. And they lost in the semifinal round of the tournament to MSU and were relegated to buying into the CBI.
Creighton might be improved this season even though they lost some key players, but I believe some of those other teams will also be better this season and that the MVC isn't necessarily a "gimme" for Creighton as Katz seems to suggest.

The season after WSU's (and BU's) Sweet 16 year, after WSU won non-conference roadies at LSU, GMU (two of 2006's Final Four) and Syracuse, the Shockers got a top-10 ranking. Katz jumped on the bandwagon with both feet, calling WSU the new Gonzaga and Turgeon the new Mark Few.

When WSU faded that same year Katz jumped off quicker than he jumped on.

He can provide a good amount of publicity for a school when the trendline is up, but in the end he comes off as a major bandwagon jumper. In his profession, maybe that's not so bad.

Actually Katz mentioned it would be Creighton and Wichita State battling for the top throughout the season. But not much else, and no mention of Bradley's great attendance. That said, here's a nice post underneath the article:

The other school in the Valley with great fan support is BU. Their fans travel well and even though they have not fared well of late they're attendance has been right behind CU and WSU. It's good to see the Valley start competing again. A few schools have definitely upped their recruiting and I can see them getting multiple bids this year and making serious noise the next few years.

I hope this person is right and we can get back to at least two bids per year. I think that's the least we can expect from this conference, and it starts with the contending teams beating some BCS teams in order to get serious at-large consideration.

That post sounded so much like something I would have said SFP that I should have figured it came from you.
