Just saw a tweet that said "Coach Calapari told Jabari Parker's dad Sonny that Jabari is Kentucky's #1 recruiting priority for 2013"

I have a feeling the family will be hearing that from a lot of coaches!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

After I saw Shaunguth's post, I did an internet search involving Parker and Kentucky and found this article. IMO, a quote from the article explains everything and goes along with what I have been thinking all along about this process.

"Parker's top 5 picks hasn't changed since spring, and he is taking his time. And he said he is not limiting his prospects. Can Kentucky be one of them?

???I want my teammates to get looked at,??? Parker (unselfishly) said. ???I??™m going to take my time, not rush the process.???

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Ben why can't you just go with the ride? Miracles do happen and it could be fun to dream a bit.

You can't get #1 if you don't try.

I would love for Parker to pick BU. However, IMHO, it is a 99.9% (maybe higher) certainty that he will go elsewhere. I am not going along for the ride, because the ride is not there. If by some strange chance, we are in the top 3 with Parker, then other questions need to be asked. I strongly believe that we are there looking at one of Parker's teammates. I think that is great as while 40 or 50 coaches are drooling over Parker, we can establish a relationship with a player that is being overlooked by the other colleges.

Good point. It is a lot like when teams were gawking over Derrick Rose while my redbirds were going after Kenyon Smith......oh wait.......

In all honesty, it is not a bad idea. While all the other coaches go and talk to Jabari after practices/scrimmages, you pick out the next best player and talk to him first and let him know it/see it.

So, since there is the rumor that PARKER may pay BU a visit, that must mean he is going to drive one of these teammates to BU for THEIR visit.....

Ben- wrong- we are involved with Parker, though the Simeon team is so loaded that we would be crazy not to look at some of his teammates, too (which we are).

And there is more to the story than Coach Ford just making some wild stab at recruiting him just for show. If there wasn't, why would the Parkers agree to visit Bradley?

Wonder if we will come closer to Parker than Iman Shumpert a few years ago.. which if I'm right was decently close, right?

I don't know if you call it close, but Shumpert wanted to come to BU, until Georgia Tech came in late with their offer and he changed his mind.

So far the Parkers are "considering a visit" per Dave Reynolds' twitter....

Not doubting you DC, but if there is more to this, then I am questioning a lot of things?$?

IMHO, we are light years away from attracting a one and done number one in the nation recruit. Top 100 type of recruit yes...

I am not saying I expect us to land a player like Jabari Parker, just that there is sincere interest on both sides right now.

I could see the attraction of a one-and-done coming to BU...if they are a rock solid one and done...if it does not matter where they go and they are just trying to get that one year out of the way...I would go where I would enjoy playing...

BU has a lot of intangibles for a guy like Parker. Also, if you do not go for the best how do you become the best? To me the glass is neither 1/2 full or empty but over flowing. Staying positive, upbeat and believing anything is possible is contagious and it once was the way most Americans were programmed.

Reasons why Parker may chose BU:
1 - BU is fundamentally a conservative school with a great tradition
2 - BU is driving distance from his family
3 - Parker will be undoubtedly the man on the team
4 - Parker's family feel very comfortable with Coach Ford and the rest of the coaching staff
5 - Parker can showcase his game night in and night out in the MVC
6 - BU's style of play is very intriguing to Parker
7 - Parker see's BU the way I do and does not undersell what it can do for him
8- He can become an icon in BU lure and not just another one and done
