it wouldn't surprise me but there are some reasons many the top players are now considering Bradley and money under the table is not one of those reasons

As Ted Williams said,"It is better to have swung and miss then not to have swung at all." I'm all for taking a Dave Kingman type swing for the fenses!

Hell yea keep going for the fences Coach Ford!
Ted Williams also created a hitting zone chart based on batting averages for a baseball in a specific location. With this recruitment, I would be surprised if we are hitting over .100.
If the kid was a top 50 type recruit, then I would say go for it. But honestly, I think that this is a big waste of time if we are specifically going after Parker. I say this as I read this report the other day before I heard Bradley's name associated with this kid. My guess is that we are watching one of Parker's teammates. --and I have nothing wrong with that--

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and two of his assistant watched ESPN's top-ranked junior Jabari Parker at Simeon on Chicago's South Side on Tuesday.

"It was crazy," Simeon coach Rob Smith said of all of the coaches. "It's something I've never been around in my years of coaching."

Krzyzewski and his assistants, Jeff Capel and Steve Wojciechowski, took a limousine service from the airport. North Carolina was the only other program to bring along three coaches to the open gym. Illinois had assistant coach Jerrance Howard join Weber."

Pretty tough to compete against Coach K, limousines, et al. Don't get me wrong, if we were somehow able to land Parker, I would be ecstatic. Think Frank the Tank from the movie Old School streaking through the quad.

Ok I probably scared all recruits away for a while.
        Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Maybe - but they were definitely also there to view Parker and have been in touch with Jabari & family previously..
There are people on our current staff who have pretty good connections thru Geno, thru Chipola, & thru Huggins to long time AAU guru Sonny Parker --
they may be new names to Braves fans, but Jaden Uken & Pat Beilein are pretty darned good.......

So why is this suddenly happening with Geno at the helm whereas it didn't under Les? Why BU and not the other MVC teams? I hear it's raising eyebrows throughout the MVC.... Why is now different for Willie Scott as a recruiter than when he was under Les?

I contend it did happen under JL -- it just may not have gotten as much sympathetic press...........
Are you not aware he had 4-Star and 5-Star recruits here on campus (most recently 5-Star Chasson Randle but also 5-STAR Evan Turner visited twice contemplating transfer here) many times and even landed a couple Top 100 kids...

BUT -- please - let's not turn this thread into another us vs. them or Geno vs. Jim thread...

I was not aware of Randle but remember Turner gave us a look. Unfortunately, I do not recall any Top 100 kids during Les' final few years ...... Cellus from earlier, though.

Also, not my intent to create an "us vs. them" thread. Sorry to disappoint you, friend.

Are the other MVC teams forbidden from recruiting him? We can only speculate on the change. Maybe more of the decsion-making was delegated to him.

Recruiting Jabari Parker can be beneficial for other reasons than trying to get him to play for us. If nothing else, it gets us listed with those other schools on recruiting sites.

Hey we can sign Parker and Austin. Then we can promote around the state.

Ben - what you are saying is that little old BU has no chance at competing. For the most part I work for start-up for a living and if I had that attitude I'd never sell a thing. I sell up against the IBMs and EMCs all the time and win because I have something neither one will ever have and that is the ability be flexible and create a solution specifically tailored. BU can offer Parker a system that will show case his skills while the other guys have other players they also have promised the same thing. There are plenty of advantages for a top player to chose BU and I'm sure GF and staff are adept at pointing them out. You have to play to win!

Don't forget about Iman Shumpert, who ended up at Georgia Tech and is in the NBA now. We were a finalist for him as well. Les had Dick Versace and Shaun Livingston talk to Shumpert on his recruiting visit.

Shaun Livingston also was quoted as saying Bradley made his final three...

but now DR tweets he is also hearing Parker may visit Bradley!!

Shouldn't we make sure this kid reads the local rag and hears from readers that point out they have been long time Bradley fans and think Bradley should be a D2 school. Surely Wessler can find a ton of fans that feel that way. Heck - he might feel that way himself. Isn't it about time we have some local fans write in to Wessler and the local rag and tell Geno how they feel about all this recruiting of top 100 players especially not from this area? And while they are at it... maybe they can let Geno know we should get out of the MVC and go D2. You know... schedule more like IWU, Millikin, Monmouth, etc. Heck we could even get a rivalry game every year with Harvard on the Hill (ICC).

speaking of scheduling ICC....naw never mind but it is tempting..

anyway -- did you see where Wichita State is in the Final Four possible college choices of Perry Ellis
a TOP-20 kid (2012) - do they have a scholarship remaining? -- I am understand they do NOT after landing the verbal last night of Green...
...Ellis' decision and announcement is such big news in Kansas (deciding between UK, KU, KSU, & WSU) that is it being streamed as well as televised LIVE and 2:30 today
