Reasons why Parker may chose BU:
1 - BU is fundamentally a conservative school with a great tradition
2 - BU is driving distance from his family
3 - Parker will be undoubtedly the man on the team
4 - Parker's family feel very comfortable with Coach Ford and the rest of the coaching staff
5 - Parker can showcase his game night in and night out in the MVC
6 - BU's style of play is very intriguing to Parker
7 - Parker see's BU the way I do and does not undersell what it can do for him
8- He can become an icon in BU lure and not just another one and done

I don't understand why more top players don't consider mid-majors. Especially if they can be local heros. Great players at mid-majors tend to get more attention than one at a powerhouse because their numbers tend to be high and they look impressive against the competition. Look at how much attention Jimmer, Adam Morrison, Gordon Hayward, Patrick O'bryant, Ali Farokmansh, and others have gotten. Plus the shock of a being a top recruit when coming out and committing to a school like Bradley is bound to get you some attention. It seems like some players would get more NBA looks at a mid-major than elsewhere.

Not only that but you can be the big difference maker at your school instead of just another great player at a BCS school , remember Bradley had a lottery pick in the NBA in P.O"B so if you are good you do not have to go to a Duke or Kentucky to make the NBA as we have had some at BU.

I was talking to a BCS conference friend of mine yesterday and he said the same thing. Why wouldn't he want to come to Bradley where he would be a star, showcase his game better, average 25-30 points a game, play good competition, help us win the conference. And put us back on the map immediately if we get him And his teammates would like having the scouts around!!

Once again, If we are talking about a top 100 player, I would agree. However, a person like Parker could care less about winning the MVC. A blue chip player like Parker wants one thing when they go to a college for one year. That one thing is to win a NCAA championship. The only exception that I could see to this is BYU.

I haven't posted for a while but when I saw this thread I thought if anyone seriously thinks this kid is going to come to BU they have been smoking the peace pipe. Of course no reason to not give it a shot and dream but that is about it a nice dream.

Ben....seems right if that is his thinking...what does he want to accomplish in his one or two years in college....??? Your probably right in 99.9% of the one and done players...

If you do not ask you'll never know. I do not see a down side to this. Yes there is the time spent on this but this may also prove to help us with other recruits regardless.

If I'm only staying for a year anyway, I don't need to win an NCAA championship.

Also how has going to Kentucky helped those one and done. I do not see a banner hanging from Rupp.

If the kid has a goal to win a National Championship for his High School team, then why would he have a different type of goal for the college he plays? Even if it is for only one year.

See last paragraph for his goals with this link.

For the most part, isn't the yearly goal at Kentucky to win a National Championship? They fired Tubby Smith for not winning enough (by their standards) after he won a title.

Kentucky has had I think 5 or 6 one and done first round NBA draft picks in the last few years. Do you think any of them honestly care about banners hanging in Rupp, or the University of Kentucky for that matter? I'd say going to Kentucky helped them plenty. Even a guy like Daniel Orton who averaged 3 pts/gm as a freshman was a first round pick. If you go to a school like Bradley, you have to average 20+ pts/game, 10 reb., etc. as a freshman to not damage the rep you came in with. Not true at a Kentucky, Duke, etc.

Parker sounds like a very high character guy, but I doubt he cares much about MVC titles or a place in Bradley yore. He'll pick the best one-year situation for him that benefits his goal of being an NBA lottery pick.

Now do I hope he decides Bradley is that place...absolutely!

I would guess because he has to stay in high school for 4 years and that would be a goal, but he would only be going to a college team for 1 year no matter what.

Sorry Ben, we'll just not see eye to eye on this one. I like to believe that our goal at BU is also to win championships and the only way to do that is to go after the best. Why not, especially in this case? I just do not see the downside of this! The only one you mention is time and the chance to capture lightening in a bottle.
