Sooo, I just saw that there's a Bradley Stock Car that will be racing in Joliet and Talledaga? Anyone have the story?
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

Bradley University to assist #37, special paint scheme at Chicago: Eight Bradley University [Peoria, IL] sports communication students will have the unique opportunity for a weekend internship at a NASCAR Sprint Cup race in the Chicago area. The students will assist the #37 Sprint Cup team with promotions and public relations. The #37 Bradley University Sprint Cup Ford Fusion will be wrapped in the University's markings and the BU Braves logo during the Sprint Car event. The white Bradley #37 Ford, covered in red University markings, will be driven by Josh Wise at the Geico 400 this weekend at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. Wise will attempt to qualify on Saturday for the Sunday race; his teammate in the NASCAR Nationwide Series is Danica Patrick. "This is another wonderful example of hands-on experiential learning opportunities available to Bradley students," President Joanne Glasser said. "I want to thank Max Q Motorsports and NASCAR for allowing our students to bring what they learn in the classroom onto the race track." The #37 Bradley University Sprint Cup Ford Fusion show car, an authentic race car, will be displayed at Olin Quad on the Bradley campus on Thursday, September 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bradley sports communication students will be available to explain details of the #37 race car and their involvement in the Geico 400. "We welcome Bradley University students to Chicagoland to experience firsthand the excitement of NASCAR Sprint Cup racing and to learn more about career opportunities in our sport," said Max Q Motorsports Owner Larry Gunselman. Gunselman has donated the primary sponsorship of the race car for the Geico 400 to Bradley University. Bradley is a private, independent university in Peoria, Illinois, offering 6,000 students the choice of more than 100 academic programs. This size provides students extensive resources not available at most private colleges and the personal attention not commonly found at large universities.(Bradley University), see image of the scheme on the #37 Team Schemes page.(9-15-2011)

On the Hilltop, the name Alan Fuehring is commonly followed by, ???the kid who loves NASCAR.???
???Since I??™ve been at Bradley, everyone I meet learns that I??™m a huge fan and have been my whole life,??? said Fuehring. ???For me, the sport fulfills every sense ??“ the smell of tire rubber, the sounds of passionate fans, and there??™s no greater feeling than when your driver performs well.???
So when Fuehring ??™12 and his fellow sports communication majors were invited to assist a NASCAR team during this weekend??™s Sprint Cup event at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, everyone who knows Alan knew he??™d be first in line. A diehard Jeff Gordon fan, Fuehring will relax his allegiance this weekend to support No. 37 Bradley University Ford Fusion driver Josh Wise in the GEICO 400 ??“ it??™s a concession Fuehring??™s happy to make for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Fuehring, along with Brent Drevalas ??™15, Katherine Casey ??™13, James DeSilva ??™15, Hollie Huntley ??™14, Zach Keesee ??™12, Zachary Larson ??™14 and Julie Piatek ??™13 will bring to the North Carolina-based Max Q Motorsports team skills developed in Bradley??™s nationally recognized sports communication program. In turn, the students will have an exclusive opportunity to gain footing inside one of America??™s most loved sports industries.
???We welcome Bradley University students to Chicagoland to experience first-hand the excitement of NASCAR Sprint Cup racing and to learn more about career opportunities in our sport,??? said Larry Gunselman, the team??™s owner. Gunselman donated sponsorship rights to Bradley in recognition of the University??™s growing sports communication program.
The No. 37 car will be wrapped in the University??™s markings and the BU Braves logo during the Sprint Cup event. Ahead of the weekend race, the entire Bradley community will have the opportunity to see the No. 37 show car, an authentic race car, on campus. The car will be displayed on Olin Quad Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sports communication students will be on hand to answer questions about the car and upcoming race.
In choosing Bradley students for this unique partnership, Max Q Motorsports considered the global nature of the University??™s sports communication program, which includes training in journalism, advertising, promotion and publicity, production and performance, and media relations. The students are already primed to tackle everything from pre-event publicity to public relations and production and Fuehring??™s familiarity with the sport has already proven an asset to the team.
???I??™m writing biographies of the driver, the owner, the crew chief and some of the mechanics, and I??™m looking forward to answering questions about the car on campus,??? Fuehring said.
Before heading to the track for the weekend, the students will write a press release to promote the race and Fuehring??™s team biographies will be posted on the Max Q Motorsports website. On Saturday, they??™ll lead tours of the pit and garage and take photos to post online. On Sunday, race day, the group will watch the GEICO 400 from pit road.
ESPN, ESPN2 and Speed channel will carry live television coverage of the GEICO 400 practice, qualifying and race day events.

Josh Wise was able to qualify the Bradley car in the race. He will start in the 43rd position. He was the last car to get in.

This race is currently in a rain delay, and has not started yet.
It is being televised on ESPN, and they are expecting the rain to stop and still get the race in today. If not, the race will be run Monday.

Sunday's rain at Chicagoland Speedway forced NASCAR to postpone the opening race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.
