Got a chance to talk with Coach Wardle at a coaches conference last year. He seems like a really good guy. Pretty impressive speaker when it came to Xs and Os.

That's nice to see! Too much of the negative side of college basketball gets covered at the expense of stories like this. This is what the definition of Student-Athlete is all about!

So I'm gussing the trick was his coach suggesting he find a full time job? Or was it him not being in as good of shape as he wanted him to be, because he sounded serious here.

Yes, the trick was that Wardle made the walkon kid think he had let the team down and poor kid was almost in tears. They all thought he was serious. But then he awarded the kid a full scholarship for the year.

Wow! Nice to see even the major sports outlets are picking up on this! Nice that it pushed out the corrupt programs we see all too often at least for the time being.
